TideFans.com is a totally FREE website. We must pay significant monthly fees to our web providers for the space and bandwidth we use. To cover those costs and to allow us to provide innovative, creative, and fun content and occasional prizes, we use various advertising methods. We need to maintain a 0.40% click thru rate each month. This means that for every 400 pages that are viewed on the site, we need to click on at least 1 ad. If we don't meet this target, advertisers will look elsewhere...in effect, cutting us off.

We want to keep the site operating as a self-sufficient site without losing money on it. We believe we provide the best site for the fan anywhere on the net. Sure, other sites may have a full time staff, but do they provide the sense of civility and community that TideFans.com provides? We think not...especially for FREE!

A Unique Click means the number of times, as recorded by the server, a person visiting [TideFans.com], as identified by cookie or IP address, clicks on an ad, provided however, that a click on a specific ad by a particular visitor shall only be counted as a Unique Click once every 24-hour period.

The ads that count in our calculation are:

1) The large banner ad at the top of the page
2) the small ad on the bottom right column

CLICK THRU RATE CALCULATION:
click thru rate = total number of ads validly clicked divided by total number of pages viewed

Let's say we have 50,000 pages viewed each day and 200 ads are clicked. that is a 0.40% click thru rate - our target. Also, the same person clicking on the same ad multiple times each day is NOT calculated in the numbers as a "valid click-thru" according to our ad serving company.

So it's important to click different ads each day.

If EVERY person on the site clicked at least 2 different ads each day, it would EASILY exceed our targets.... it's a small price to pay to get everything we offer for FREE!
