16 teams. Conference champs and a few at larges. Get rid of the bowls. Let them decide it on the field. It may not be perfect but it is better than a popularity poll.
You don't have to get rid of the bowls, make them part of the playoffs. And don't worry about conf. chanps and at large teams, take the top 16 teams and have a play off. Why try to complicate things!!! It really doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure it out.
