just hope the bus makes it on time to the ballpark. Need some more innings for Shields, Kebodeaux, Copeland, etc.

Well, the Delta Devils are tearing up the SWAC so far this season, and at 17-4 recently captured their third consecutive Eastern Division title. Last year's squad finished 34-22, ultimately falling to Texas Southern in the championship game of the conference tournament. Texas Southern went on to record a shocking upset of defending national champion Rice in regional play, beating the eventual #3 pick in the draft, right-hander Philip Humber, and effectively derailing the Owls' hopes of repeating. Strangely enough, the Delta Devils have managed to tap into the Canadian recruiting pipeline (Go Valley, eh?), and all of the out-of-state players on their roster hail from very distant locales.

In a season that has already provided us with epic clashes against storied rivals Butler and Duquesne, the best is truly yet to come, when the Tide and Devils square off in the annual Border War this Wednesday. In-depth preview to follow. (The only problem is that MVSU hasn't updated its baseball website since 2003. I suppose that on their list of priorities, updating the baseball page is down there with changing the oil for the team bus.)

Just remember, this is not the old MVSU that we beat up on by 20 runs in years past. MVSU hired a new coach a couple of years ago and he brought in better players and put an emphasis on fundamentals. If we laugh and joke and don't take these guys seriously, we may be in for a long night. If we take them seriously and don't goof off, we should take the W.

Big A Mvsu

They need to be taken seriously. There has been too many times this season our team has not taken opponents very serious. Too many one or two run losses. Well we did pull out sweet win this past weekend, and I'm proud of the way this team pulled it out in spite of the coaching.
