Big A Pro Update 6/30

Share

*After making his big league debut earlier this month, Taylor Tankersley appears to be embracing his role as the new situational lefty in the Marlins bullpen. Based on the early results, a 1-0/3.00 mark, a pair of saves, and eight strikeouts in six innings (11 appearances), the former first round pick is well on his way to becoming a fixture on this staff for years to come.

*Given the option of either reporting to short-season Salem-Keizer and splitting time at third base or going to the Arizona League and playing everyday, Matt Downs chose the latter, and spent his first week in the pros raking at a .382/.382/.559 clip, with four doubles and a triple.

*After years of patient waiting, the Yankees are finally giving Andy Phillips an opportunity to play on a semi-regular basis. He has done a respectable job (.289/.316/.492), primarily filling in for the defensively-challenged Jason Giambi at first base. Surprisingly, he leads the team with three triples.

*Turning around the Braves’ disastrous season looks to be a lost cause at this point, but there is yet a glimmer of hope. For John Shuerholz to prevent that last wheel from falling off the bandwagon and pull off a truly miraculous comeback, all he has to do is make one move: call up Dax Norris.

*Dustan Mohr signed with the Detroit Tigers this week and was assigned to Toledo of the International League.

JoJo, I must question this. As bad of a year as it has been for the Braves, one of the few bright spots of the team has been Brian McAnn. While I wish nothing but the best for Dax, catcher at this point is the one position where the Braves are not hurting.

Re: Pro Update 6/30

That was intended to be tongue-in-cheek, TideHead.

Just campaigning for a guy who has put in his time in the minors and deserves at least one shot in the show.

Re: Pro Update 6/30

I appreciate these updates JoJO. I do have one question. Does anyone know what happened to GW Keller? G Dub was one of my all time favorites but I lost track of him after he left the University.
