I was reading the regional pairing projections on SEBaseball.com this evening. They have us projected as the #2 seed.... in the Chapel Hill regional, ugh. Also included are Manhattan (#4) and Rhode Island (#3). They have UNC as the #7 national seed and paired with the Greenville regional hosted by East Carolina. See link below, hopefully it works.
They give the SEC three host sites, LSU, Ole Miss and Florida. Vandy, S. Carolina, Georgia, and Arkansas also receive invites. Adding Alabama gives the conference 8 teams.
Obviously this is nothing official, but interesting reading all the same. Thoughts? Anyone seen any other projections? The selection annoucement comes Monday morning.

Considering how poorly the team played against Auburn and in Hoover, I think we'll enter the tournament as a #2 matched up against one of the top eight national seeds (I'd be surprised if we were to slip all the way to a #3, but stranger things have happened with the NCAA).
Potential destinations? I'm guessing either Chapel Hill, Atlanta, Tempe, Fullerton, or Austin.
good luck in the regionals, fwiw i got a note that i haven't posted in a while so that is what i'm doing. didn't want to post to soon after the game the other night. GB

That's admirable of you, Gorilla Ball, but to be honest, you've been here longer than most, and as one of the most decent and knowledgeable opposing fans out there, you're input is always appreciated. I don't think any regular poster would have viewed your comments as piling on after the LSU win.
Once Hyatt got off to a bad start and fell behind with an elevated pitch count, that game was pretty much over. Had Wells made the logical decision to bring in Adam Scott to pitch to Helenehi, then things would have at least been a little more interesting, but so much for that.
Your Tigers have the look of a serious national championship contender. However, I will say that Mainieri's lineup construction might be one of LSU's biggest weaknesses. Burying a hitter like Jared Mitchell (.341/.479/.587, 30 SB, 8 HR) in the seven-hole, while sticking Micah Gibbs (.282/.404/.482, 6 HR) in the cleanup slot, makes absolutely no sense. Mainieri did the same thing last year, too, when he had the team's best hitter for average and OBP at the time - Schimpf - batting ninth throughout the postseason. Sometimes it appears as if he determined that day's batting order simply by pulling names out of a hat.

Not to make too much of this, but it is fun to see how quickly things change. Today they are now projecting us as the #2 seed at the Minneapolis regional being hosted by Minnesota. They have us playing Oregon State (the 3 seed). 4th seed is Rhode Island. This regional is paired with the Austin regional, where Texas is the #1 overall seed. Does Baseball America have any projections? It would be interesting to see a few other viewpoints.

I don't think we'll be lucky enough to get sent to Minneapolis. If Minnesota ends up hosting, that would seem a likely destination for one of the #2 seeds that just missed out on hosting - somebody like Texas A&M or South Carolina. I just have a feeling we're going to get stuck with a very tough draw. I hope I'm wrong, though.
