Time to post your predicted Regional winners/Super Regional matchups...
SUPER REGIONALS
Texas vs. Texas A&M
The Longhorns shouldn’t have much trouble taking care of their relatively weak Regional. The Aggies are on the road against an upstart TCU program, not to mention an extremely challenging #3 seed in Oregon State. The Aggies are the most talented squad in the Fort Worth Regional, and I think they’ll move on after a hard-fought slate.
Georgia Tech vs. Miami
Florida was one of the hottest teams in the country down the stretch, and Miami, though still a respectable team, is actually in somewhat of a rebuilding year. I’m just not completely sold on Florida’s pitching, and while the ‘Canes aren’t overly spectacular, I’ll pick them to pull off an upset in Gainesville.
Arizona State vs. Clemsabama
Nope, not picking our Regional. It’s a foolish superstition, but why take the chance?
North Carolina vs. South Carolina
The Gamecocks finished the regular season on an absolute tear, and Ray Tanner’s squad has what it takes to dispatch Conference USA champ ECU in the opening round.
Cal State Fullerton vs. Vanderbilt
I don’t like Louisville. I think they are as bad an “outlaw program” as Miami, or those Maine teams from the 80’s. I don’t think any team that competes in a joke of a conference like the Big East deserves to host a Regional. I hope Vandy wins.
Florida State vs. Arkansas
The well-balanced Seminoles should take care of a UGA team that really fell apart late in the season. I like the Hogs’ chances of upsetting the Sooners in Norman.
UC Irvine vs. Ole Miss
Strasburg can’t pitch every game, which eliminates San Diego State. The bad thing for Virginia is that they get to face Strasburg in the opener. In the end, it all works to the Anteaters’ advantage.
Rice vs. LSU
This is where the idiots on the selection committee absolutely blew it. Why are these teams matched against each other in the Super Regionals? Both teams got hosed, big time. The Houston and Baton Rouge Regionals should have been paired with something like the Louisville or Fort Worth Regionals.
