BAMA in the draft

Share

I'm disappointed that I can't find a good site that allows me to glean through all the picks by looking for different category. MLB.com supposedly allows me to do that, but it doesn't pick up "Alabama", Matthes, or anything else.

So, quite by accident I found out that Matthes went to the Rockies. Any other news?

Re: BAMA in the draft

Kent went 121st to the Rockies, as you said. No other Alabama players or signees have gone yet.

Re: BAMA in the draft

Congrats to Kent. He could do very well out there. Be another Matt Holiday. I'd just have to say in Colorado though.

Hopefully the draft won't take any other guys/prospects from us.

Re: BAMA in the draft

Difazio went to the Rangers. So far thru 14, no signs of Jake Smith getting drafted yet or any of HS prospects.

Re: BAMA in the draft

congrats to Vin. Del Howell just went in the 15th to the Brewers. Best of luck to Del and sorry that the coaches couldn't develop you any better than you deserved.

Re: BAMA in the draft

Hyatt to the Phillies in the 15th

haven't noticed any signees lost yet. Though, I need to look a good bit harder. Need to get that St. Paul's OF in and all the pitching we can get

Re: BAMA in the draft

Anyone happen to notice who was selected with the pick immediately before DiFazio? Connor Hoehn.

Re: BAMA in the draft

WOW, I never thought I would see the day where JoJo gave props to a former player....On the same subject. Ben Soigner (sp?), a former tide player who transferred to Monroe just got drafted by my beloved Yankees.

Yes, I'm usually pretty tough on the turncoats, but it all depends on the circumstances of the former player in question's reasons for leaving. In some cases (Hoehn and McCarter, for example), I can set aside fan loyalty and fully understand why certain players decide to leave and can't say that I disagree with them.

Other cases, however, are different - I have no use for the Peter Stonards and Scott Murphys of the world.

Re: BAMA in the draft

So, if he signs the loss of Dell Howell will hurt our staff for next year. Is anyone hearing anything on his thoughts?

I would think we will still have Jake Smith, and Brandon May for next season based on the draft so far. We could have been hurt much worse. If one or both have breakout seasons as Seniors, we could be very good next year.

AGAIN, much will depend on how our pitching stacks up.

Re: BAMA in the draft

signee Judd Golsan of Mtn Brook just went in the 31st to the Yankees

It won't matter if Howell comes back unless another pitching coach develops him next year. If he's learning under Wells, he'll go 4-4 with a 5.10 ERA

Re: BAMA in the draft

hard-throwing, non-developed RHP Austin Evans in the 36th to the Indians. He'll learn much more in rookie ball than he would here.
