Starting Rotation

I know it's a long way away, but I'm ready to get started discussing it haha. So does anyone want to take a stab at a possible look at a rotation next year? Here's my completely uneducated guess:

Morgan
Nelson
No Idea, Maybe Scott or do you guys think one of the incoming freshman may step up and be able to lock down that third spot?

Re: Starting Rotation

without looking at a roster, I think the two Columbus lefties, Wolfe and Taylor, have shots. I think Taylor is the one most ready to step in to a rotation, but don't hold me to that.

If this team is going to be worth a flip, Jimmy Nelson absolutely has to have a good season. And he needs to be a weekend starter.

Re: Starting Rotation

Just my thoughts! I don't anticipate a freshman pitcher being a weekend starter, at least not in the beginning. It will probably be Morgan, Nelson, and Scott in the early going because of their experience. White, Smart, Kilcrease, and Head (Whitiker and Townsend??) will need to be productive out of the pen for the Tide to make a run for the SEC crown. Should these guys be effective, it will allow Wells to be selective in which freshmen to bring along.
However, I do anticipate at least 1 freshman starter in the outfield, since there is only 1 returning starter (not sure of the returning red-shirt players).
Both Taylor and Miller were Louisville Slugger All-Americans last year, with Taylor selected as a two-way player. Miller broke a bone in his ankle this summer and may be lost for fall practice. One or both of these players, plus any red-shirt players, will need to adjust quickly to the SEC.

Re: Starting Rotation

no offense to any of the above posts, but I'll wait on JoJo and his opinions before I throw mine out there. He (imo) is one of the knowledgeable of us that posts on here.

All I know is the lefties from Columbus are good, and it is possible to come in as a freshman and be good, but it is tough to say the least. Next years team took some hits with some of the guys leaving (still sctratching my head on some of them, but good luck to them anyway and as they say thanks for the memories).

As always the optimist with the baseball team, I think we'll be decent next year, maybe not SEC Champs or even SEC West Champs, but we will make some noise and make the post season again. Good thing about baseball, you don't have to have great players to have a great team!!!
