Tide's Pitching Coach

Share

I have read several posts criticizing the Tide's pitching philosophies.

Now with the recent changes, who would you recommend as the Tide's new pitching coach??

Re: Tide's Pitching Coach

While I disagreed with a number of moves that CJW made during individual games, he must hava had some idea what he was doing developing pitchers. As of right now, we have 4 former pitchers (David Robertson, Tommy Hunter, Lance Cormier and Wade LeBlanc) pitching in the majors and a 5th (Taylor Tankersley) who would be there but for an injury. As for a new pitching coach, I can think of a couple of good candidates that were mentioned in another post who I think would be excellent choices - Bobby Sprowl and Jarrod Kingrey. Quite frankly, I doubt that Coach Sprowl would leave the head coaching job at Shelton State to become an assistant at Bama right now. I am not sure what Jarrod is doing these days. Jojo, got any information?

Re: Tide's Pitching Coach

Well, if this was done any earlier, we could have simply hired BJ Green......he was already here to begin with until recently.

Idea Re: Tide's Pitching Coach

I guess I was looking at the situation completely different. I'm not a real fan of hiring a former pro pitcher with little to no college baseball experience.

I am hoping for a proven, experienced college pitching coach. My first 3 considerations would be Kyle Bunn (Clemson), Skip Johnson (Texas), and Pierce (Rice). These guys are some of the best, with a proven track record at the college level. Yes, they are at successful programs but you never know until you try. We may not have this opportunity again for another long time.

It's time to Go Big or Go Home!

Yes, those guys would be nice to have, not sure why the would jump ship to us. We won't pay much, and besides those are some strong programs and unless they are looking for away out of their current situation for a lateral move here I would guess the door is wide open for them to come on it.

Honestly it wouldn't surprise me if BJ was given the opportunity for him to come back here even though he just took the GSU assistant job. I for one would like to see him come back home even though he just left...Not sure if contracts and things of that nature are involved in a situation like this or not.

Re: Tide's Pitching Coach

Hi all, I'm new to the forum, so overlook me if my post happen to show up in the wrong place.

Here goes,

Any updates on who the Tide might be trying to interview for the pitching coach job? I know that most, if not all of our 09 recruits are pitchers and 3 of the 2010 verbal commits are very good pitchers.
