Wow. This team is being rewarded for their wins! With the way this team has started out its a shame that all the traffic on this board is discussing the coaching change then the bball team has a great coach with great players. Roll Tide and continue to represent the University well.

Mark Gottfried’s University of Alabama basketball team climbed two spots in both polls released Monday. Alabama is No. 6 in the Associated Press rankings and No. 7 in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll.
The Crimson Tide is 5-0, with wins, in order, against Jackson State, Middle Tennessee, Iowa, Xavier and Texas Southern.

Roll Tide!!

maybe one day the media will realize that teams aren't solely good beacuse of their name and tradition (they surely realized that will Alabama football), and stop putting UNC, Kansas, and Duke above teams like Alabama that are undefeated. UNC is too inexperienced to win it all, so are Duke and Kansas.
Bama should be no lower than 5th, and there should be no teams that have lossed above them. Bama would beat Gonzaga on a neutral floor, which UNC was unable to do. Also, Bama would beat Oral Roberts at home, although I believe that OR is a very good team, and may make the Sweet 16 this year as the mid-major surprise. The media will get their first look at Bama on Jan 1st, if anyone is watching the game instead of watching the Rose Bowl or Fiesta Bowl.

It is kind of hard to go undefeated in basketball. Kansas did beat Florida right after that. UNC demolished a top tier SEC team two days later. That is why it is so interesting to watch because depending on shooting any team can win. Shows why rankings dont matter much.
FWIW, I think we would have a difficult time taking 5 out of 10 with UNC and Kansas.

Of course its hard to go undefeated in basketball, but I was merely saying that the experience that we have (Davidson, Steele) would help us greatly against teams like UNC and Kansas that are loaded with Freshmen and Sophomores.
Our team is loaded with them too, but UNC only has Hansborough that is very talented with any NCAA experience. Kansas has NONE.
We would definitely take 5 out of 10 against them on a neutral court.

I understand your point.
However, UNC has Reyshawn Terry, Bobby Frasor, Marcus Ginyard, Wes Miller, and Danny Green; all of whom would prob. start at Bama and have experience. This age in basketball experience is not that big of a deal. These guys and been playing on U18 and 21 and AAU teams for 5 years with the best talent around. After a year in a coaches system, their is not much of a difference b/w a Senior and a Sophomore (game wise). Average players will develop but great teams like Kansas and UNC have incredible talent to start with.

Put Wes Miller on a team with talent like Auburn's, and he wouldn't do anything. He is protected majorly by the inside game of Tyler H. and the penetration of the other UNC guards. That is why is able to get open shots.
In response to the media, hopefully in a few years it won't be that way. I won't be holding my breath.
