I heard CMG was on the Finebaum show this afternoon. Did anyone catch this interview or know what they talked about? Thanks!
CMG basically said that he's just as disappointed as anyone else so far this season, but he said he's glad that people care now when we lose and that there was a time when Alabama basketball lost and no one cared. Thats just evidence how far the program has came, and that the expectations are there now. He ended it by saying "we will get this thing turned around".

CMG asked would the talk show be talking about Bama BB if they were still winning - PF said no we would be talking about recruiting. I thought CMG got a little defensive at times during the interview. He made several comments implying that why weren't you talking about us when we were 15-1 beating a couple decent teams.
It was bascially a useless interview
I don't pay attention to the talk show morons cause they ignore Bama BB when they are winning but wanna jump on the bangwagon like they have been paying attention all season.

At least PF was honest about it. After all, he does seem to thrive on negativity.
Gottfried shouldn't even be playing that card...it comes off as if he's trying to deflect criticism and responsibility for the poor product that has been put on the field this season. Any coach who has that mindset is a coach I don't particularly want coaching my University's team.
I just listened to it on Finebaum's website. I was hoping for a little bit more from him. The three things I noticed:
1.) He seemed defensive, as if he couldn't understand the frustration. In his defense, it didn't help that Paul basically thanked him for playing bad by saying that CMG team had been a constant topic since he changed stations. Also, told him that if his team was playing well we would be talking about recruiting.
Anyway, he didn't seem to like Paul bringing up Cecil Hurt's stat that Bama has trailed for all but 37 minutes of SEC play. Also reitterated that Ron Steele has been cleared by Dr. James Andrews and what is he supposed to do? Go against doctors orders?
2.) He didn't really do a good job of addressing what is wrong with the team. I have a hard time believing that his team is in a slump. Nothing was mentioned of substitutions, lack of intensity, hustle, focus, slow starts etc.
3.) He took another swipe at the fans saying that most don't start paying attention until January and that if they had paid attention they would have noticed that we went 13-1 and beat some pretty good teams (debatable). Didn't mention that they have been selling out during SEC despite some pretty lousy performances on the road and a lackluster first 36 minutes vs. Georgia and a laughable game against Arkansas.

The useless part is Gottfried using his PRE-SEC conference record as an argument. Every team in a major conference looks good before the conference schedule begins.

Yep we are definitely in a football state whne a fan refers to the court as a field.
I still think CMG & Staff can coach. They know we have problems & look for them to correct them tonight. I do not think we can win with Steele at the point - not enough quickness-movement when the PG is not quick
Tubbs will keep the defense fired up.
Bama BB may be like Auburn FB which means never going to the next level (ie: playing for the NC) - a good team that beat some people but never really getting to THE level.
I really think we have a good coaching staff. The players are just not responding & a shake up in the starting lineup should help a great deal

The statement in bold above is correct -- at least until this point. Good analogy too and sneaky way to take a shot at the Barn!

This really concerned me. I'm worried that the mentality will be "we'll just work hard and shoot ourselves out of this slump." I think it is more than a slump and some major problems need to be addressed. He's the head coach and I would hope he knows what the problems are. I like Coach Gottfried and I believe we can get this thing turned around. I've been trying to take the attitude of letting the whole season play out before I make judgements... but it is hard to do that when the team is playing so poorly.
