Ohio State skates yet again this time basketball

The NCAA has thrown out 3 and part of a 4th of the violations against OSU's basketball program that occurred under Coaach Jim O'Brien because its enforcement staff missed its deadline for filing charges. Penalties that had been imposed will remain which included erasing all references to OSU's final four appearance in 1999. No further comment is needed.

You have to give the NCAA credit--they do go strictly by the book when it comes to the statute of limitations.

Re: Some of Ohio State's basketball violations thrown out

It is kinda funny that Coach O'Brien is claiming a victory when the charges were only thrown out on a technicality.

Re: Ohio State skates yet again this time basketball

It's obvious we are just going to have win in SPITE of the NCAA. There is no way that deadline was ACCIDENTALLY missed by the enforement committee.

Maybe if Alabama wasn't in South we wouldn't have gotten the hammer. I'm not a confederate flag waving homer, but it's becoming evident that there are MANY double standards and something needs to be regulated by law. There is a TON of money at stake. College football is a huge business, and it just doesn't seem fair that one school can do the same thing as another and nothing happens.

Re: Ohio State skates yet again this time basketball

Does anybody else see this as a way for the NCAA to preserve their arbitrary rulings? They didn't make a lenient ruling against Ohio State, they just missed the deadline. So when they have an axe to grind against another School, we can't point out the incongruence of the penalties with Ohio State like we can with Michigan.

I hate these sons of motherless goats.
