Bama/Bulldog post game thread...

Let's try to make it about basketball, rather than a b*tch and moan thread about the coach, etc...

There's so much wrong with this team and our program right now.....I'm at a loss for words. Ever been like that?

Re: Bama/Bulldog post game thread...

Looking at the box score, we shot only 2 for 14 in three point attempts. State got 12 for 26. Gordon got four of them, totaling 24 points. We never could defend him. That is the game right there.
Knowing our field goal percentage was not great, we still could have won this if we played some strong perimeter defense.

Re: Bama/Bulldog post game thread...

We were in it, but we could not make half time adjustments to stop the three. We were in it against Florida untill half time also. If we could just adjust better at halftime we could play with any team in the sec.

Re: Bama/Bulldog post game thread...

struggling is one thing. but now it looks like we can't even compete. I guess that SELA game really did say a lot about this team.

Too many turnovers. Sloppy defense. Poor shooting. What else is there to say.

Re: Bama/Bulldog post game thread...

We have not really played a full game yet. We have shown up in most aspects of the game this year at least a few times, minus defense.

And as bad as our defense is, you would think they would eventually miss some.

Re: Bama/Bulldog post game thread...

The basketball team is a mirror image of the football team right now.

They are good enough to beat anyone, but also bad enough to lose to anyone.

Both teams have talented players, but not enough talent to overcome surges by the other team.

We have a really bad "Front runner's" mentality. When things are going good, we look good. But, when things start going bad we lack that one player to get the ship righted and soften the blow. Hendrix tried to today, but he too made some turnovers and just wasn't enough on the defensive boards to do it alone.

Re: Bama/Bulldog post game thread...

The zone defense was really our best chance, and I can't fault the plan. Guarding the perimeter with the zone requires a lot of determination, mobility and pride. Today, we looked like a team that hadn't played a lot of zone, our rotation was so slow at times. Also, we're lacking in talent in crucial areas. RH is it, when it comes to big men. Our PG doesn't protect the ball well and is not able to pull up and punish the defenders, when they dare him to shoot. It's possible that some of our talent is just not what it was advertised to be, coming out of HS. It's not just all coaching. That I now believe...

Re: Bama/Bulldog post game thread...

Again a poor perimeter defense, inconsistent point guard play, and horrible free throw shooting cost us the game. I bet I'll be able to make that statement after every remaining game and it will ring true. I'm disgusted!

This is one game that you cannot pin on FT shooting. They were just as bad, if not worse.

Re: Bama/Bulldog post game thread...

We fell asleep some on defense, but we should score more than 55 pts. I still can't understand our offense. I've never seen a team having so much trouble passing the ball.
