Ron Steele's Career is Over

Ronald Steele has decided his season and Alabama career are over... - The Rap Sheet - al.com

I hate it for the guy. Hopefully he can overcome this and play professionally somewhere. If not, at least he has his degree.

Poor Ron.

You wonder how much he has left to give and whether he's willing to give any of it to a program in the state of ours.

CMG had only a flicker of a chance to retain his job, and that just went out.

Re: Ron Steele's Career is Over

Cant be mad about his decesion. I thought he should have went pro last year after the trouble he has had with injurys. Thank you Ron for coming back and giving it one more shot. Hopefully you can rehab and have a great career somewhere.

Re: Ron Steele's Career is Over

Sad, sad, sad. The Ronald Steele that I'm always going to remember is the one who played his tail off after Chuck Davis went down in January 2006. He literally carried UA to 10 SEC wins that season and our last NCAA berth. Good times that year in comeback wins vs Arky, Vandy and a complete demolishing of Bruce Pearl's first UT team.

Re: Ron Steele's Career is Over

Thanks to Ronald Steele for his class on and off the court. He always has/will represent the State of Alabama and UA in a positive manner. I wish for his sake that he didn't have to play literally every minute of every game his sophomore year. Not sure it mattered, but it couldn't have helped.

Quote:
University of Alabama men's basketball senior guard Ronald Steele has elected to forgo the remainder of his senior season head coach Mark Gottfried announced Tuesday evening.

Steele, who has not played since January 11 due to plantar fasciitis, averaged 12.9 points and 3.7 assists per game this season. The 6-2, 191-pound senior point guard returned to action this season after missing the 2007-08 campaign following surgeries to both knees.

What a damn shame.
Anyone think the team will pack it in for the year mentally and physically after this?
