Would it help if I told you Pitino regards Grant as THE outstanding up and coming young coach in the country and that he had input? ??? Nah, I didn't think it would...
Works for me. From what little I've seen of CAG's VCU teams, they are well coached and play hard. Both of those things have been missing IMO at Alabama the last few years.
Not at all. Just someone who wants the best and feels we settled for what was easy.
Why all the negativity? This is a great hire. He is a good coach and will bring an exciting style of play to BAMA. U really do sound like a closet UK fan.
I guess this is his third attempt into the SEC. He said "yes" to UF and got the rug jerked out. Then, he said "no" to LSU, so I guess he was going to end up in our league, one way or the other...

Grant would of been waaaaaay down the list. I am just tired of hearing the program I support can't "Get a coach of a high calibur." I'll give it a rest and say Go Coach Grant. Prove my complainin' arse wrong.
If CAG is good enough for Coach Newton, he's good enough for me! I think we are fortunate to get Coach Grant who learned under Coach Pitino and Donovan.

Closet UK fan.... does that mean someone who expects the best on the hardwood. Maybe that makes me one who roots for Bama? hehehe.
Guys, I've seen VCU enough and no one has told me how a guy who is 40% in winning against Top 100 RPI teams is such a great hire. 14 of his games this year were with teams lower than 200+ RPI. He basically played Auburn's schedule. So at least he's better than Auburn's coach.

And, I think most of us agree. Except ,of course, the closet KY FAN!!

He's at VCU with sub TOP 100 RPI talent. BAMA gets plenty of talent, and we need someone to use it wisely. Sit tight KY Fan, we will be OK.

He never was under Pitino. That's like saying anyone who coached under Denny Crum was under Wooden or that David Hobbs was under Pitino since he was on Tubby's staff.
Say the same thing about Grant that you said about Tubby. He had a good first year with Chapel's players then it never improved.
Tubby Smith (UK Basketball) = Larry Coker (Miami Football).
To say it never improved is a little bit irrelevent for Anthony Grant, considering he was at a mid-major school, was only there three years, and won 24 + games all three years. With Grant, the hiring decision is partly on experience, but mainly on potential.
Again, Tubby Smith is a good coach and a good person, but he has already been at the Pinnacle job in SEC basketball and did not have it going in the right direction. He definitely did not leave Billy Gillespie a loaded cupboard. Tubby Smith would have been a short term fix, but not the answer for us long term.

I think we will be fine. I am the biggest cheerleader for him proving me wrong. You just have to understand I wanted someone with more experience and "Championship Head Coach" like the AD said he was going for.

Gotcha!! But, how many "Championship Head Coach" prospects are out there? 0!!!
