I entered the Tournament Challenge contest on ESPN. I picked Michigan State to win it all. So there's my pick. I have no choice...lol
Final 74-69. (That's what I picked MSU to beat Duke in the final so I'll stick with it against UNC)
I picked MSU to win the tournament at the outset because they dominated the Big Ten, which I thought was under rated, because of Coach Izzo who is a Nick Saban clone on a basketball court, but mainly because of their defense, rebounding and, most importantly, their uncanny ability to dictate tempo. They're amazing.
I think they'll slow it down Monday night, force UNC into a half court game they don't like, and win it.
As far as the contest I'll finish in the top four per cent if Michigan State wins and drop to about top 20 per cent if they lose. I would have had a chance to win the whole Kip and Kaboodle but I picked Duke to beat Villanova and to make it to the final. That cost me a bunch of points.
I picked Connecticut, Michigan State, Duke, and ...(oh God) Clemson to make the final four. Clemson may POSSIBLY have hurt my chances....lol
Over five million entered and of that five mill exactly 110,000 picked Michigan State. 2.2%
So I feel I picked the ultimate underdog. Go Spartans!
It should be a great game. Like you mentioned tempo will be the deciding factor. If it is fast paced UNC will win, if MSU can slow it down they probably pull it off. UNC's range on the 3 ball could open up MSU's defense though.

UNC is incredibly talented. If they get the lead early it could be a blowout.
I picked the Spartans but Carolina looks dominant.
I'll be rooting for MSU because it's Saban's old school; but if I were betting, then UNC would get my bet. I just don't see the firepower needed on the big Green's team.

The smart money is on Carolina, but State is an incredibly scrappy team. They'll have to play terrific defense and absolutely own the glass in order to win IMO. They're capable of pulling it off but I believe Carolina will be too much for them.

I'm in two brackets. If MSU wins, I'll win one bracket (the TideFans bracket on ESPN). If NC wins, I'll win the other. So, I feel good either way. Unfortunately, there's not a penny on the line.
My brain right now says NC, but I can't pick against an Izzo-coached MSU team right now.
UNC isn't nearly so great in the half court. I think the key will be whether MSU can continue to execute its offense as effectively as it did against Louisville and UConn in the face of the Heel's pressure. If so, it will be nip and tuck.
This is one of those games that I really don't care who wins. I like Izzo's style of coaching but I like to watch great athletes that know how to play basketball (there is a difference) so I really enjoy watching Carolina.
The best thing about it is no Big East teams to be found, I have had that league crammed down my throat all season and its refreshing to hear some talk about someone else for a change.
If I had to pick one though, it would be Carolina.
RTR and here's hoping for something to cheer about out of Coleman soon.
