You're Bama's Coach! Pick Your Assistant and Your Team

Share

Only Stipulations:

Your Assistant must have coached at Bama either as a Head or Assistant Coach, and you're players must have played for the Tide.

You get two Centers, Four Forwards, and Four Guards.

Here's Coach Alasippi's Team

Assistant Coach- Wimp Sanderson

My Roster:

Center- Leon Douglas
Center- Antonio McDyess

Forward- Derrick Mckey
Forward- Robert Horry
Forward- Eddie Phillips
Forward- Reggie King

Guard- Ennis Whatley
Guard- Mo Williams
Guard- T.R. Dunn
Guard- Hollywood Robinson

My starting line up for game one is:

Antonio, Derrick, Robert, Ennis(at the point), and Hollywood.

I think we'd be hard to beat with the depth available on the bench.

sip

Sip...you come up with some great ideas. You also realize that with that roster it doesn't matter what kind of coach you are! David Hobbs could take that group to the final four! What do they say, "It's not the x's and o's, it's the Jimmy and Joes."

Re: You're Bama's Coach! Pick Your Assistant and Your Team

Almost half that squad is from the state of Mississippi (over half for the starters)...

Bama needs to get some more Mississippi players.

Re: You're Bama's Coach! Pick Your Assistant and Your Team

It's really hard to believe just how many incredible players we've had over the years.

I think our best team ever was 76, when we lost to undefeated and eventual national champ Indiana. I believe the tournament only had 32 teams at that time.
Under the current 64 team format we would have been a one seed and would have probably not played them until the final four.

Thanks for the compliment! True about the Jimmy's and Joe's. A high school baseball coach once told me.."If you work as hard as you can as a coach, do all the little details, and spend every moment trying to become better at what you do......you'll be as good a coach as your players allow you to be". It truly is about talent to a great degree.
