Isiah Thomas accepts FIU coaching job

Or maybe I should have said "accepts job to drive FIU baskeball program into the ground". I guess there is the small chance that he could be a Pete Carroll type. I would say that would be pretty remote though.

Re: Isiah Thomas accepts FIU coaching job

I coach 8 blocks from FIU, so that's pretty big news down here. Maybe I can get him to come run a camp...hmmm?? If so, I can't allow the moms to come near him.

Seriously though, I think that FIU will only improve because of this hire all because of the recruits that will come because of the big name. The only problem he will have is the amount of money dished out to the football team (that is improving) in comparison to basketball.

According to this, it shouldn't be an issue the first year.

I hope he teaches them to pass the ball! Isiah never saw a shot he didn't like!

That's interesting that he's going to donate his first year's salary to the school. We'll see how far he stretches that dollar. Thanks for posting that.

Isiah Thomas, former Knicks coach and president, is new Florida International Golden Panthers coach - ESPN
It's already in the ground and this won't help the problem any.

The Sun Belt Conference has an interesting collection of volatile coaches now with John Brady, Mike Jarvis, Isiah, and Ronnie Arrow.
