"Old enough (69) to know better - young enough to think I can get away with it!"
There is a pretty long history with this coach, and be assured that he makes no effort to present UA in a good light.
I wish Eric well, hope he has a good career, and that we beat them every time we get to play UK.
Can you blame him? As much as I love UA I think if I were a top high school player and a school like UK or UNC had interest in me I would probably choose to go there because of their basketball pedigree. I think that is why you see most of our in state talent going elsewhere. I was surprised when Hendrix signed with us since he also had an offer from UNC. Hopefully CAG can change that.

No blame. But I am disappointed. We're only a decade removed from getting most -- if not all -- of the good players in the state. That's my expectation year in, year out.
We're the dominant university in an athlete-rich state. Now that we've righted the ship in football, we pick whom we want. That's Anthony Grant's task now. He has farther to go, granted. But the University of Alabama should be getting the bulk of Alabama's best -- regardless of the sport.
Coach Grant is no longer at VCU, third or fourth ranked in his own state. He's at the flagship. This time next year, he should be getting far more of the better players . . . Kentucky and the rest, be damned.
What was an amazing aside in one of yesterday's related articles in the Birmingham News, is that none, and I mean NONE of the the 12 Super Seniors from the state are going to a state school. That is atrocious. If there is someone worth getting in this state from here on out, I have a feeling that is about to change, thanks to Coach Grant.

Parker HS is one of Alabama's historic programs. CAG's challenge is to make Alabama basketball so attractive that it mitigates the influence of an antagonistic HS coach.
