For those interested in Bama players in the NBA Summer League

Share

Richard Hendrix - Denver Nuggets 9ppg 4rpg 18mpg thru 3 games

Jemario Davidson - Golden State 2ppg 2rpg 10mpg thru 3 games

Alonzo Gee - San Antonion Spurs 2ppg 1rpg 6mpg thru 3 games

***A few side notes:
Richard Hendrix is starting for his summer league squad, but I don't know that that really means much in terms of him making the final roster.

Alonzo Gee's minutes have gotten less and less each game. He seems to be pulling a DJ Hall, where he comes in strong but his lack of ability comes out as time goes on.

Jermareo Davidson appears destined for the D-League or overseas. Two other Forwards/Centers are averaging more time and better numbers. And this is on a Summer League team, not even the regular roster players.

Also, former Mississippi State stud Lorence Roberts is playing with Golden State but has yet to play. I really thought that guy had a chance to have a career in the NBA. Ultimately his lack of height and overall athleticism did him in. I figured he could have had the same impact that Glen Davis has had, but Roberts never showed the athleticism that Davis has shown.

Re: For those interested in Bama players in the NBA Summer League

Final Stats:

Richard Hendrix 7.8 ppg 4.3 rpg 15.3 mpg (total of 4 games)

Jamareo Davidson 2 ppg 2rpg 10 mpg (total of 5 games)

Alonzo Gee 2 ppg 1 rpg 7 mpg (total of 5 games)

***It looks like only Richard has a real shot of making a final roster. Jamareo might make a roster simply because of his height, but it appears that Alonzo is going to have to book a flight overseas if he is going to continue his playing career.

Good luck to all of them. They all provided moments of brilliance for Alabama basketball, and who knows what might have been for Jamareo if things had gone differently his senior year.

I was looking for Erwin Dudley on the rosters but didn't see him. He usually is on a roster and has a good showing. He just seems to not be able to find the right situation for him unfortunately.

I would guess that he is happy to play overseas and doesn't see the point in wasting his time with the NBA.

Best I recall, he is a solid player on one of the best teams in Greece or Turkey, and I'm sure he is living like a king. I can't imagine giving that up to sit on the bench, and possibly go between the NBA and NBDL.

Re: For those interested in Bama players in the NBA Summer League

There was an article on him last year in the Montgomery paper I believe that talked about him playing for one of the top teams in Greece. Yes he is making a little over 1 Mil a year plus perks but he said he would rather be in the NBA still. Don't forget with the pay scale he would be pulling down around 600K at minimum wage in the league so it is not like he would be broke. And there is no comparision between how the players are treated. A lot of Alabama guys have made a lot of money overseas, but almost everyone will tell you they would rather be on the bench in the league than a Star in Europe.

That's true, but I could be happily homesick for a "cool million" a year!
