Please keep Bama great Derrick McKey in your prayers

Share

Got an email from a friend that's close to Derrick.

Quote:
Saturday night Derrick's Aorta ruptured - he was rushed to the hospital and they did emergency surgery. He's just now responsive (which is a good sign) - but, he is far from out of the woods. Derrick is one of my favorite people in the world and is a great friend.
His oldest child (son) is a freshman at Alabama. Derrick loves the University and keeps up with a LOT of people from his school days.
He really needs our prayers right now. I'll post as I know more.
thanks in advance.

Monday Night Update

Talked with some family at the hospital. Derrick is resting and breathing on his own still. He's still responsive when he is awake. He does recognize and exchange conversation.
He is physically worn out and tired from the ordeal - and rests a lot (which is to be expected). So when he is awake he's still very groggy. But, he is doing pretty good considering what he's been through.
He's got a lot of hurdles to clear. Please keep praying.
Thanks

Derrick is one of my favorite Bama basketball players. I had no idea he was in this kind of shape. I will definitely be praying for Derrick.

Wow! One of the highlights of my FR year was watching the B-Ball team win the SEC with Derrick anchoring the defense. I watched him with the Sonics for years after he left the University. Hope he is able to pull through and will definitely keep him in my prayers! C'mon Derrick we're pulling for you!
