I know its football season

and I love football but I'm already getting excited about the basketball season.

So what do we expect this year? I don't necessarily think of Coach Grant as an all out run and gun type coach along the lines of Mike Anderson but with Jemison out and Coleman gone we will have a thin front line so I could see more of a small run and gun type team.

As far as new players does anybody have some good reliable information about these guys? I'm interested to see Chris Hines because while he was listed as a small forward as a recruit he is 6'8 and with our lack of front line depth I'm pretty sure he can forget playing the 3 for the most part, at least defensively he I assume would play like a four.

Does anyone think Tony Mitchell is the type of talent that will be able to crack the starting lineup immediately?

As far as Charvez Davis I've heard he was a shooter which we can always use.

So anyway looking at the roster it looks like we've got Torrance (and I expect a bit of a breakout year), Brock who can definitely help us, Andrew Steele who I like, and Hillman on the perimeter. I would assume Davis would play as he's a junior so its kind of now or never. And then you have Tony Mitchell.

On the inside we've got JaMychal, Knox, and Hines. So we'll definitely spend some time with 4 guards out there, so its good that we've got six that can probably play and maybe 7 if you included Ben Eblen.

What I'd like to see from the team, regardless of how we end up record wise

1)Better defensive pressure and intensity and also smarter team defense
2)Better ballhandling and passing, just in general improve the basic fundamentals
3)More motion offensively

Not picking on these guys since I like all the players but specifically what I'd like to see out of a few certain players is: JaMychal Greene to improve his back to the basket post game; 2)Senario Hillman to improve his ballhandling, passing and decision making.

Roll Tide.

I think we will definitely see these 3 things from a CAG coached team, especially #1.

Re: I know its football season

We'll be thin up front, but I have no doubt we'll get a distinct style of play under CAG (full court, deny all passes, etc) which is something we never had under CMG.

I also expect to see Torrence & Brock have alot of success under Grant. As for wins and losses, we'll be picked probably anywhere from 4-6 in the West, but I do see us surprising some people, problem will be depth concerns in the latter half of the year.

Re: I know its football season

It's great to hear the players comment on really having to work hard in the offseason, unlike the past. And, I have high hopes that we'll win a couple of away SEC games this year.
