ISn't Basketball Season Right Around the Corner?

Share

I know that it's football season but my goodness! We have hired one of the hottest coaches in America and the hoop season is right around the corner and the b-ball team gets no coverage at all. No wonder we struggle to attract top coaches and players at UA! I love Alabama football, but it seems as if we could have benefitted from some coverage of the hoop squad during the off week! Does anybody know what kind of team to expect this year? If so, please share!

Practices are closed, so there's no news coming out of "official" sources. CAG is playing this season pretty close to the vest. There is an exhibition game Nov 4, so that will be the first time the majority of fans will get to see them.

Thinking about going down for the exhibition game but not sure yet. Got to find out if I have the money to stay through the LSU game or not

I'm fairly excited... or maybe anxious. It's only too bad we didn't have Grant last year, as the SEC will be much stronger this season.

I won't be counting games as losses beforehand anymore though.

I don't see any reason why Bama can't compete for the West.

UT and UK will most likely battle for the East and outright SEC title, but the West still looks to be winnable. Miss. St should be good, but LSU, Ole Miss, Auburn, and Arkansas all have just as many "flaws" as Bama.

Do you see it differently? I am basing my opinion mostly on last year's results and limited info on this year's teams.

And I didn't say we couldn't. The only difference is it would have been easier last year.

I think the talent gap between MSU and the rest of the West is considerable (esp. if Sidney qualifies), but the rest of the division still looks to be improving: Ole Miss reminds me of us - but with more revered guards, Arky's young leaders now have a year under their belt and they should be better (and they displayed a lot of talent at times last year), LSU lost a lot of scoring in Thornton but is still formidable (and they have a good coach), and who knows about the barn? They return some scoring, but Barber was undeniably their best and he's gone.

And I'll just add that the top 5 East teams should all be very much improved, with UGA lagging (although Fox is a good coach). UK, UT, and Vandy look absolutely stacked.

Re: ISn't Basketball Season Right Around the Corner?

I'm just so happy to be finally looking forward to Basketball season instead of halfway dreading it.

I really think Coach Grant will do great things with the Tide!
