Thoughts on turning 39...

I turned 39 last Tuesday (March 25th).
Yes, I was born during the Age of Aquarius and watched the moon landing in diapers with my bottle and security blanket.
...or, was that just the other day???
While I belong to the OFC for you whipper-snappers who only vaguely remember Bama's last national championship in 1992, I'm still the boy in diapers to our most prominent members of the OFC.
So, I enter middle age.
My middle-age crisis has been building steam for awhile.
I think it began when I turned down the offer to move to Birmingham three years ago. Trust me, it feels like it's been longer than three years. I've aged 15 years in the three year period.
I've changed jobs since that time, but I still wonder if I'm doing what I'm supposed to be doing. Any of you ever do that? Don't get me wrong. I like working with computers, network applications, software, and such. It's just that I wonder if it's what I was called to do.
My passion is, of course, Bama football, running, sports writing, and radio and television. Being I turned down working for the UA System, that was strike one for my goals. I still enjoy writing an article or two, but anyone who knows me knows I love to talk. So, I'm either going to finish that on-line radio station or start a Bama podcast...or both.
I did build my "man cave" for my audio production. I converted a seldom-used bar area of my house and moved my computer, and audio/video taping equipment in there. It's decorated with Bama memoribilia and a place where I can escape the everyday life.
So, there you have it...the ramblings of a man who, as Mickey Gilley used to sing, "39 and holding"!
One thing I have learned, though. Always have something to look forward to...every day. A cup of coffee in the morning. Lunch date with a friend. A favorite song you plan on downloading. Always look to learn something new, because you are only as old as you think you are.
More to come.

Sometimes, we do take life for granted and most people fail to realize this until they encounter a near death experience.
I turned 22 back in April, and for some reason, I can't help but fear that in eight years, I'll be 30. I often feel I let my youthful years slip by, and there were so many chances I failed to capitalize on that I often regret. I know I've still got a waaaaaaays to go in life, but I feel one phase of my life is over with; and that's a phase I frequently regret for not living it to its fullest potential.
Anyway, nice blog. You seem happy and content with your current life and I hope and pray when I'm of that age, I can share those same feelings.
Roll Tide!
