Katrina - Remembered

Have you ever noticed how, even after a recent disaster, people felt immune? It is almost like we are teenagers, and thus, in our own minds, invulnerable. We witnessed the horrors visited on those who stayed for Camille, and spawned a rumor that those that died were having a “hurricane party” and all but said, “They deserved it”.

Then we have years of complacency, and it happens again. This time named Fredrick. Now of course, the toll on human losses was much less than Camille, but...

Let's Eat - Nick's in Gulf Shores

Nicks is located on Gulf Shores Parkway (highway 59 South) just before the bridge to the island. Nick’s in the same building that the abysmal “Tommy Thunders” was located in. One would almost assume that the location itself was cursed, after Tommy Thunders, there was the detestable “Oyster House Piano Bar and Grill” (which is not to be confused with the excellent Oyster House just down the road).

When we arrived, I was not sure what to expect. What I found was a very pleasant surprise....

Gulf Shores

In living in this area for a long time, I have come to know why many of us locals call the bridge to the island “Amnesia Bridge”. Most of our guests here in Gulf Shores/Orange Beach are truly a pleasure to have on the island, but as just about any condo owner and/or property manager can attest, we do have some special ones. The following breaks down some of the more, shall we say, adventuresome visitors:
