Wide receiver / athlete Trovon Reed of Thibodeaux, Louisiana is announcing his collegiate decision this morning at 10:00 AM at his high school. Reed is a bit of a small guy in the build of someone like Darius Hanks or Marquis Maze, coming in at around 5'11 and 175 pounds, but he is generally considered the top player in the state of Louisiana. Both Rivals and Scout have him as a very high four-star prospect.

At any rate, Reed is widely expected to commit to Auburn this morning. The LSU people have conceded defeat on this one, and in fact a lot of people think that Oregon is even above LSU in this one. Reed's recruitment has been very hard to follow, but it seems like a lack of early playing time is killing LSU's chances here.

Either way, if Auburn pulls this one off you really have to give them a lot of credit. Malzahn has lit up scoreboards this Fall with his offense, and it has impressed a lot of top talent. With the top six teams each having 20-plus commitments, the top 10 probably isn’t going to see some kind of dramatic shift from now until signing day.

With Bama looking like it will close with nothing other than 4-star players (unless Hubbard gets ranked as a 3-star), could we be looking at our third straight No. 1 class?

Does anyone have any insight as far as how many more players some teams’ classes will include? (E.g., Texas with 20, Florida with 17, USC with 14.)

My guess is that No. 1 *probably* won’t happen again, although we look like a very strong bet to stay in the top 5. Texas is obviously already ahead of us with fewer commitments, Florida and USC are tearing it up with significantly fewer commitments (how many they’ll finish with is the big question), and Tennessee looks like they’ll finish very strong.
