Game Day Parking

Share

Going to my first game in about five years in September. I've been on campus several times, just not to any games. Any hints or advice about game day parking, traffic, etc.? All help appreciated.

Talking Get there early

Of course, the earlier in the day you get there - the better chance of a parking place near the stadium.

BUT - in case you cannot get there early enough (after having driven aroudn a little to SEE what's got spots here or there) - you can try doing the trolley thing. You park your car in downtown Tuscaloosa anywhere - near the AmSouth bank is one idea or even closer, if you like (like near the University CLub, for example) - & let the trolley pick you up on one of its (every 30-minutes) runs - it will deposit you on campus & you can go on to the stadium then or just enjoy being on campus until time to go into the stadium. The trolley takes you back to your car afterwards too.

By coming early enough , though , you should be able to find some place either near the Ferguson Center or near the new little shops across from the strip (near the new Publix) or over near the colesium or quad. Good luck - it's always a fun day no matter WHAT!!!!

Parking in Tuscaloosa is generally never a big problem...

the easiest thing to do is to drive down Bryant or University. While driving down University you should start looking around a few blocks before the Quad (Denny Chimes) and you'll see a lot of places to either pay and park or simply park. If you travel down Bryant, once you get past Coleman, there are a lot of pay parking places.

Of course, as RamJam said, the earlier you get there the easier it is to park. Either the Utah State or Western Carolina games, a few hours prior is sufficient. For the Lil Sis game (it's an 8:00 kickoff) I would get there by 4:30 or so at the latest!

Big A

We always try to park in the Coliseum parking or across from the baseball stadium in the lots there where it is FREE. Generally, like everyone else says, you get there 3-4 hours before game time, you will find a space. There is lots to do on the Quad or the Strip being there that early.

I know the University is in the process of building some parking decks. I believe 1 is already finished.
