I will be willing to bet Brodie has an injury free year. Any takers? (See Jason White who had exactly the same problems with his knees...fix em and you can be even better).
Rumor Spreading?
I am tired of people calling posters "speculators" or "rumor spreaders" when they say something about the team without naming a source.
One such rumor is Guillion's "attitude problem".
How do you think these "rumors" come about? Players talk. Coaches talk. Media talks. Fans talk. Just about everybody here in Tuscaloosa knows at least 10 people they can name on the spot that have direct access to either players, the coaches, or both. It does not mean it is not true just because you haven't heard it directly yourself from Coach Shula. Several of the moderators say they have an "inside source" that they trust with information that they are given, and I believe them even though they don't name them. Posters are often accused of "speculating" or "rumor spreading" if they do the same thing (not name a source) but it doesn't mean that they are doing either.
I realize the moderators have to keep a close eye on people that post anything that might not be a well known fact. I am just saying that just because they don't name their exact source doesn't mean what is said is baseless.
P.S. I appreciate the moderators' efforts in reigning in the nut jobs who do try to spread misinformation and utter stupidity. Many times I think those are just trolls.
Stop and think about it. If we named some of the sources they would dry up like a desert. Rumors are covered in the tidefans policy. Read it. And finally some things are best left unsaid.
You made my point exactly. That's why I don't stop to think about it. I know exactly the reason you don't name your sources. People have to choose who they do and do not trust in terms of information spreading without source-naming.

My source is the 2nd cousin of my neighbors neighbor, whose daughter is married to clerk, at the University branch of the Tuscaloosa Bank, whose son is a friend of a friend of the Professor in Business Law, who goes to church with a member of the staff of the Music Department, satisfied?

I feel like such a failure. I don't have a "source".

I don't have a source either. And it hurts. I often find myself forced to use my imagination when posting on this board. Thank goodness the stuff I post is so completely rediculous that people don't pay any attention. They just say "Bless his heart" and move on.

Hey T-Mac, you be my source & I'll be yours...........wait a minute, somebody would be getting the raw end of that deal..........probably you! Oh well, guess I shall remain sourceless.
Sometimes I get bogus info from this source, but there are several trustworthy sorts who help me sort through what's fact and fiction. This source is one of the best on the planet.

Are you running for President? I know you are and want all the MODS to provide letters of endorsement, I have not heard this much suck up since Clinton was in office.
Congrats Bam Cav, I know you'll soon land a job with the board!!!!!

It does not mean it is not true just because you haven't heard it directly yourself from Coach Shula.
It also does not mean that is IS true because it came from Billy Bob or Bubba. Just because you hear the same rumor from ten different people does not make it true. They probably heard it from each other. As I am the one that responded to you in another thread regarding MG, I will assume that this is at least partially in response to me. Since the MG "bad attitude" rumor has been pretty well debunked, I will just rest on truth as an ally. In no way have I said that a source needs to be named for everything. I am only pointing at this particular situation. Marc does not deserve what has been said about him, and it is truly a shame that it has been spread around the way it has.
Living in Tuscaloosa does indeed give MANY of us living here privy to CERTAIN information regarding football & the program & the university itself that would never otherwise be made public.
Think about it: these coaches have to be neighbors with SOMEONE, they have to be friends with SOMEONE, football players (current & recent past, ahem....) do happen to date SOMEONE, they have friends, & the administration does too...so there's no way that certain things don't fly around...HOWEVER, most people in those positions find a certain "reverence" (for a lack of a better word) in just kind of "knowing" when to keep their mouths shut - not to "keep secrets" but to respect the privacy of the matter or to simply keep the listener (or reader) from putting another "spin" on the matter or 'embelishing' the matter as they repeat it. You'd just have to walk in the shoes I guess to understand that.
All I can say is that it's wise to enjoy knowing some things & then just letting things happen, rather than trying to dispute or add to the "all-knowing" experts who so adamently proclaim this or that. They'll normally eat crow at some point anyway, without having been publically corrected by someone who knows better.
One thing people need to remember is that coaches, current & recent former players, & administratioin people are "normal" people too - they need some fresh air from the whole subject of football sometimes - believe it or not. It's amazing the number of people who actually walk up to one of them & ask them some quesiton or other about their opinion of this or that - amazing. (Like they'd actually give anything but a neutral & polite standard answer....)
They have their hang-up's , their flaws, their surprizes you'd never know about, and their good points as well. We posters have our various reasons for speaking out on issues & info, but the main thing to remember for those who do not have a connection with someone who could be a potential "source" is that discretion/good judgement/respect is SO important when it comes to this stuff. There's SO MANY times I've just wanted to SCREAM "NO NO NO NO NO" to so many posts, but have had to restrain for the possibility of just making a bad matter worse by keeping it alive. It could come back to haunt you or the program sometimes, just like public trash talking a player or coach can certainly hurt our program. It's best to just to think about how something sounds or looks & above all about class sometimes before we speak. There are several of the regular posters who are aware of the RamJam connection & will totally understand this probably even better than others, but for those of you who are having a tough time with it - I apologize in advance. I may not be able to make it more clear if asked, as I probably will not make another "drive-by" again very soon.
Climbing down off soap-box now........
