Bama vs. UT a statistical breakdown

Share

Okay guys...this is not meant as anything other than informational.

Make of it what you will!

UT OFFENSE
Passing - 237 ypg
Rushing - 99 ypg
Total - 336 ypg

UT DEFENSE
Passing - 205 ypg
Rushing - 63 ypg
Total - 268 ypg

BAMA OFFENSE
Passing - 164 ypg
Rushing - 231 ypg
Total - 395 ypg

BAMA DEFENSE
Passing - 210 ypg
Rushing - 69 ypg
Total - 279 ypg

SCORING
UT OFFENSE - 19 ppg
UT DEFENSE - 17 ppg

BAMA OFFENSE - 27 ppg
BAMA DEFENSE - 11 ppg

We've both played Florida and statistically speaking UT allowed a total of 247 yards, while Bama allowed 326 and UT gained a total of 320 yards while Bama gained a total of 407 yards. UT scored a total of 7 points and Bama scored 31 points. UT allowed Florida to score 16 points while Bama allowed UF a total of 3 points.

The other common opponent was Ole Miss and statiscally speaking UT allowed a total of 250 yards, while Bama allowed a total of 279 yards to the Rebs. UT gained a total of 378 yards and Bama gained a total of 355 yards. UT allowed Ole Miss to score 10 points as did Bama, however, UT scored a total of 27 points while Bama scored a total of 13.

If you are looking for two more similar statical teams, you'd be hard pressed to find them when you look at the overall picture. The biggest difference is that Florida beat UT and Bama beat Florida...both beat Ole Miss. Florida also lost to LSU and LSU lost to UT, so what does all of this mean? I have no idea, but I thought it made for some interesting reading and discussion.

It means that Bama will stomp an orange mudhole in that volunteer butt and ole smokey will head for the hills with his tail tucked. The beating might be so severe that phil fulmer will be crying at his press conference.

I've looked at it every way I can and I too think Bama will spank UT. There is motivation there and there was motivation in the Florida game. This could very well be as ugly as the Florida game was folks. I hope it is anyway. I just don't see the heart in the Viles that I do in the Bama boys. It's an intangible (sp?). It don't show up on paper. You won't find it on ESPN.com's statistical rankings, but you'll see it on the field Saturday. It's heart. The heart of Alabama Football. The heart of 70+ kids who are bringing the Tide back to where they rightfully belong and the kids see it. It's within their reach. It's the doubt that people had in them. It's about the belief that we had in them. These kids will not be denied folks. Their determination and heart will win this one. I'm confident of that.

Clausen is currently 68th in passing efficiency. He has as many INT's as he has TD's (3 each).

Croyle is currently 27th. He has 9 scores to 2 INT's.

Gerald Riggs is currently ranked 29th in rushing. He has 109 carries for 462 yards and 3 TD's.

Ken Darby is currently ranked 27th. He has 112 carries for 613 yards and 2 scores.

In scoring defense, Bama is 4th. Tennessee is 21st.

In scoring offense, Bama is 59th. Tennessee is 98th.

In pass effiency defense, Bama is 9th. Tennessee is 25th.

In turnover ratio, Bama is +3. Tennessee is -1.

In penalties per game, Bama is 39th. Tennessee is 98th.

I know the game of football is not played on paper, but through six games, we Bama is clearly outperforming this week's opponent. If the team takes care of business and keeps their heads on straight, Bama should be 7-0 and campaigning for poll votes.

UT is getting flagged more often for those cheap shots.

Fat Fulmer is the one who taught Uthug defense to
take cheap shots and he does it againest Bama every
time that he plays us.

Fat Fulmer is the biggest crook I have ever seen and
he will do anything he has to do to beat Bama.
