i know this is pretty pointless.. but one of my favorite things to do after signing day is speculate about the new recruits and the numbers that they will get .. since it will most likely be the way we identify them for the next 4-5 years...
the #'s that are available as of right now (that i know of).. are: 8, 12, 23,27, 31,35, 37, 39, 41, 43, 45, 47, 48, 52, 53, 60, 62, 63, 64, 69, 74, 85, and 87.
my hope/guesses are...
my hopes are #'s that will either open up soon or are open now..
Greg McElroy-12/12
Mike Ford-1/31
Terry Grant-8/23
Mike McCoy-85/85
Nikita Stover-9
Preston Dial-87/87
Brian Motley-63/63
Taylor Pharr-62/62
David Ross-60/60

Marquis Johnson-47/47
Jake Jones-?
Marcus Udell-39/39
Justin Woodall-35/35
Earl Alexander-8/8
Javier Arenas-27/27
--im assuming all of the grayshirts have their #'s since they have been practicing
Cole Harvey-?
Sam Burnthall-?
Travis Sikes-?
i know some might not qualify and their will probably be some duplicate #'s but .. im very bored and i like to think about this..
nope.. there was an article or somthin earlier on this board that said that roy upchurch would be switching to #5 to wear his high school #.. and that stover would wear #9 .. even tho he wanted #2 and #5 before #9.. but he liked 9 cuz he liked peter warrick..
As for the bulk of the guys coming in I don't know. But I found the number for therse guys:
9 Nikita Stover
43 Sam Burnthall
48 Travis Sikes

I know G Mc said he would like #12,but I believe that was E A's # in HS too..........so I wonder who may end up with that one. Also,If Higg is a GS b/c of his knee he most likely will not get a # this year.I would like to see J Jones get a # with 4 in it too as 48,43,41,24,etc.
i dont think that EA would get #12 since he is very likely to swith posititons.. im not against it at all.. but i just dont see him getting it..
i kno there will be some grayshirts and non-qualifiers but i just went ahead and predicted a # for everyone since nothing is for sure .. bamamag.com has sikes as #39.. where did u find him being #48?
I think that Ford will get #1 even though that is Robinson's number also. I believe that there can be duplicate numbers if they are on different sides of the ball.
i dont think they normally give duplicate #'s tho when its two big time players... i mean mike ford will almost certainly come in and play.. and ramzee is a starter.. i dunno tho they might.. i hope they do..
Preston Dial wore #14 in hs.
In an article on BOL, (not exact words), he is quoted as saying,
since #14 is already taked by JPW, that he would like to reverse the 4 & 1 and get #41, and that it would be an honor to carry the #41, following a "hitter" like Roman Harper.
