Hit on John Parker

Share

Maybe this was covered I didn't see it. When #24 Linebacker hit John Parker as he was going out of bounds. I thought it was maybe a little rough. I agree no flag, I know he was legal, but there is also a code as players. We all have seen enough football in our lives so you know what I'm talking about, and I wouldn't have been happy to see a Bama linebacker make that kind of hit. If this has been covered, sorry. Also I have already moved on... but still just curious.

Re: Hit on John Parker

If he doesn't want to get hit, he should slide or not try to get that extra yard.

The only 'code' I know of is "hammer the other guy as long as it's legal".

Re: Hit on John Parker

I agree with hitting on the field of play, but remember last year when 35 could have planted leek, but just pushed him down.

There is a difference with some players tring very hard to hert other players. If that is ok, I guess a hunting rifle in the stands is ok too.

Re: Hit on John Parker

I have to disagree. When it's early in a game and there's a young quarterback in his first road game, if it's a legal hit, you should take it just to say "we're coming after you all day."

I had no problem with the hit, just wish he would've gotten out of bounds quicker. We don't need another Brodie-type injury on the sideline.

I'd lay off if it was just a matter of spelling, but the last sentence makes it official: you're embarrassing yourself and the rest of us with posts like this.

Re: Hit on John Parker

OK, I was watching the Urban show and they were showing Tim Tebow running the ball, as he approached the out of Bounds line #16 UKs best linebacker gave him a slight push to force him out. Thats why I brought up this is the first place. That hit was not right. Thats the same lb that put Michael Bush out for the season, I'm done.

Big A Re: Hit on John Parker

I'm 50/50 on this one. JPW should have known better, but, just as in the law, there is a letter of the law and the spirit of the law. The defender should have pulled up, I thought. The idea is to not hurt someone when it can be avoided.

Re: Hit on John Parker

The officials are the ones that set the tone for the any game. They deemed that what was done was totally legit and so we grin and bear it. When we reverse the situation its tough to not take a hit on Mustain if we could get to him. Not to injure him but to send a message. Football is a rough sport and will always be. If JPW didnt want to get hit he should have slid or been more deliverate at getting out of bounds. He will learn. I am just glad he is still healthy, but probably really sore.

Re: Hit on John Parker

JPW should have gotten out of bounds with great haste. This one is on him. That was a decleater. He won't make that mistake again.

Re: Hit on John Parker

How on earth do you know the intentions of the defensive guy who hit him?

In all my years playing football, we were taught to play clean but always, always hit HARD.

Re: Hit on John Parker

I understand the debate over the hit. However, the bigger story to me was how JPW responded. He collected himself and proceeded to run the offense effectively and ended up hitting 80% of his passes. That is a level of maturity I did not expect from him this year.

Thats true remember the Ohio State linebacker the was suspended a couple of games for choking a quarterback in the pile putting him out of the game. I think the QB was Sorgi of Wisconsin?
