I'm not looking to defend CBC as a coach, but do we honestly expect a college coach to throw his players under the bus? It's one thing if Connelly's letting things go on in practice and the film room like everything is fine and dandy. But I know plenty of coaches whose opinion in public and opinion in private are radically different. What do we expect him to say, 'Chris Capps is a disgrace to Alabama football'?
This is probably my biggest gripe with the current mood of this board. We expect full disclosure from a coaching staff who don't owe us that and would be crazy to give it to us because we'd use it against them.
Now if the mods or someone else has something more than mere conjecture that points to public comments and private sentiments among the offensive staff being one and the same, then these men are truly more daft than any of us could imagine. But to simply assume that what CBC tells Reporter Guy everything he thinks for the benefit of fans is a bit presumptuous.

Sometimes I don't understand why Capps just dosen't turn around when the ball is snapped and sack JPW himself. He would be saving the defensive lineman the trouble of doing it.
That's pretty funny. Sad, but funny. I think it was after the UT game when CMS said that Capps was "one of our most consistent linemen."

Shula wasn't lying. Capps was consistent (consistently bad.)
I agree we shouldn't beat the kid up. The AD should put a gag order on all assistant coaches (except Kines) and players the rest of the year. They just sound more and more ridiculous each interview.

I agree with you that they don't say in public what they might say in practice. However, it seems that if you are ****ed at how your line is performing then you would simply decline to comment or or just say we have a lot of work to do. But he didn't do that. He defended Capps performance by saying that he did well except for five or six plays. I don't expect Connelly to throw Capps under the bus publically but simply acknowledging that there is a problem seems to be foreign to him.

This stuff is getting out of hand. I think everyone will agree there are problems with the team. Here is the issue. Can and will CMS correct these issues. Stubborness, loyalty or maybe just not sure of what to do are not excuses anymore to me. When I am stuck on a problem I know I can talk to my father, or siblings. Then I go to former or present co-workers to get more options. This is not rocket science and there should be some kind of accountability. I know my boss would not give me a raise if I was not improving every year.

I think the biggest gripe among many is the fact that with as much as we've seen from CBC and his OL in the past four years, he's never come out and said in any public way something to the effect that "we were terrible." And, if he doesn't display any of his displeasure in a public way (by being silent or just indicating a great need for improvement), you have to wonder if he does it on a practice field/film room... especially when it gets worse each week.
As a case in point, consider Parcells the other day. After a terrible outing, he said something like "we were outplayed, outcoached, outhustled... we got beaten in all phases of the game... we looked terrible and we've got to get better." He accepted his part in the blame while acknowledging that there was improvement needed in his players. CBC never seems to say this type of thing after a poor performance... particularly after a lose like Saturday.

well, rumsfield resign, i would think it best for connally to do the same, and finish the year. how can alabama have one of the lowest rated offensive lines in the sec, and compete. i cant believe, our guys are so weak, that no one else can fill in. we all know britt and capps, are undersized, and have been having problems for two years now. the young men are doing the best they can, but, at some point, the coach needs to either coach them better, or replace them when it is costing games.

Don't mean to nitpick, but this is Britt's first year on the OL, and I'd say he's done fair considering the level of coaching he's received. Did you mean Stabler at RG?
