Not exactly discussing Xs and Os but this relates to the various road trips that I and and my Bama buddies will be going on this football season and others to come.
Is Alabama Athlietics gonna be covered on XM in the future? It looks like all the other SEC teams are switching over.
The SEC made the switch a few months back...although FL, and I think SCar won't be there for a year or two. As far as I know, everyone else in the SEC is on XM now.

jeez, well that leaves me in guite a situation for this season. I guess I'll get XM to listen to other SEC games, and go local for Bama with Eli and Kenny.
I just don't know about that Jacksonville game. Dont think CTSN gets picked up there.
On a musical side note- I like sirius' stations better.
Thought I had it all planed out, then yesterday my associate( LSU fan) tells me this.
Whether or not the merger happens doesn't seem like it will affect the decision for Bama and others. For the time being, it does appear that Bama (once their Sirius contract is up) will move to XM for the '08 season.
As was stated, several SEC schools moved to XM, but three or four have not because until now there was NOT a conference deal put together by the SEC. Each school did their own thing and Bama and the others at least as of today seem prepared to honor their previous contracts.
It remains my contention that the merger between XM & Sirius won't happen unless a 3rd party player comes into the satellite radio market. The reason is that it would create an unfair monopoly in that market since there would not be any competition and at least a chance for the only company XM/Sirius to really drive costs up if they wanted to. According to the two companies they could actually lower costs by combining infrastructure, but I've heard that crap before and it doesn't ever happen. Anyway, time will tell on the merger front but for now, Bama is with Sirius until '08.

So you figure it shouldn't really matter which one I pick? (considering it passes with the gov.?) They will eventually combine?
BTW, went to SECSPORTS.com. They have a banner up announcing the SEC being carried by XM now.
Roll Tide
One thing to also remember that I didn't know when we bought our radios. We purchased Sirius because they carried SEC games, which is great. However, from a standpoint of away games (if you want to listen to pre-games and such) it is a waste because Sirius only carries the HOME TEAM's pre-game. Since you can get that in whatever city you're already in, there is no need to have satellite radio. Satellite is GREAT for listening to other games while going to and from games and on off-days if you're not able to watch them. However, being a Bama fan and going to away games is irrelevant for the reasons mentioned. I found that out the hard way when we went away a few years ago after getting my radio. We thought we'd get Bama's pre-game and instead got what was on the local radio, so the satellite only helped listening to other games before and after ours.
