Good read. It will be interesting to see what happens if Cox continues to struggle. Will there be a riff in the team as to who should be the starter? Considering that AU lost two straight home games to teams that were probably given +10 or more in the spread shows the direction AU is going. RTR!!
I'm not sure if Auburn is capable of making a turnaround. I honestly think that Florida is going to take them to the woodshed at the Swamp. Vandy will not be a pushover and then they have to travel to Arkansas, where the Hogs will be basically rested after 2 tune-up games. That game could get ugly if D-Mac and Co. run like they did on us and then there is the LSU game at Death Valley where they will probably get another woodshed beating. Tubbs may be looking for an exit strategy if he doesn't beat Bama this year.

And to add to all that, they need to be worried about New Mexico State this weekend.

I seriously believe he's out, regardless of the Bama game.
I've heard a lot of talk since "JetGate" of 2003. The 2004 season was more of a "in your face" to their administration than anything else. For all practical purposes, he's acomplished all he's going to at Auburn, and regardless of the Bama game outcome, I think he's going to just want to move on. JMHO.

I think he's looking right now. I think he has been looking for some time now. I believe he would leave the tiggers hanging without a second thought if he had as much as one decent offer. Sorry, Tubby. Time for the captain (such as he is) to go down with the ship (such as it is).

I have 2 Auburn friends here in Houston that are pretty hardcore and still travel back to Auburn for alot of games. Their passion level for this year is now at zero, especially since both went to the State game and watched that debacle. I think they realize that a losing season is about to unfold and the only thing that they seem to care about now is Georgia and of course, us. They were really pumped before the season because they were going to watch them play at LSU but I think they have come to the conclusion that Auburn is going to get mauled in that one. What makes matters worse is that Bama has come out looking really sharp and they can't point a finger back at us. They aren't per say upset to much at Tubbs at the moment but I am sure that will change as the beatings continue. I think the only way Tubbs leaves is if he wants to leave and after this season, he may want to.

That's interesting and I've often thought that he might decide to move on on his own. After JetGate I'm not sure anyone could blame him for doing that. However, I didn't know about the $6 million Auburn will owe him if they fire him. I know coaches approach these things differently than most (or at least differently than me), but with that kind of payout the temptation to just sit tight and be fired would be high. Maybe he can negotiate a resignation where they still pay him part of that. Of course I want him to hang around for 5 years so we can have our own streak against him.
wingnut will want out,the barn will beg him to stay because they know they cant replace him, only fill his position. tubbs knows he cant out recruit saban. tubbs is a good recruiter but hes no nick saban ,especially when he's at a place like tuscaloosa. that is a powerfull combination imo. i thnk tubbs will probably retire and chew tobacco with pat dye.
IMO, I believe that we as fans have created this win at all costs or you're fired attitude that is rampant in college football and it is hopelessly unrealistic.
I agree its fun to watch Auburn flop this year, but part of what makes it so enjoyable is the success they have had recently.
An undefeated season, beating the crowned national champion last year, and of course beating your arch rival 5 straight years... Auburn would be idiots to get rid of Tubby if they indeed go on to a bad year or even (here's hoping) a losing season. Remember what happened after their last "unacceptable year." Undefeated but unrespected. Here in lies the problem, no matter how good they are, a Bama squad of equal record will always be thought of as better.
If they indeed get rid of him, its got to be for something bigger than his record this year...
Maybe like the arch rival getting all the attention and hype again, even when we haven't won a darn thing yet!!!
I say we hope Tubby keeps his job... we owe him 5 straight beatings!

Reason: correction
Considering that he had a provision put in his contract after jet-gate that no one associated with or acting on behalf of the University can contact anyone in regards to the Auburn Head Coaching position without TT being notified first, I say he'll leave before they have a chance to fire him.
That being said I don't think he's hit the tipping point yet. He has a lot of collateral to burn given the past 5 years. Probably enough to get him to next season no matter what. That being said if this season is a bust AND he brings in a non-top-25 recruiting class, it'll be viewed as "the end is near" and he'll be playing for his job come September '08.
