With the Michigan coach retiring, and IF Miles gets the Michigan job, how soon would the Saban to LSU rumors start? I think he wants to bring this program back. But, as always, Bama fans are above the last ring when it comes to won-lost records. I truly believe it is going to take at least two more years, until he gets rid of the Shula players, gets his TYPE of players on the squad, and builds the kind of team he wants, built on his style of doing things. This year, he is having to utilize what he has. That is not exactly a good thing when the players that are here, are not the type of players for the D and O he wants to run. I still believe two more years. I seriously doubt most will want to wait that long.
..........and that was the point of this thread. It will take a very strong personality to "tame" the Bama faithful. Saban IS strong enough...........but will HE put up with US long enough to see it through? You have to keep in mind Coach Bryant was "family", & might explain why he was so patient.
I hope Coach Saban realizes that the rewards will eventually be there, regardless of the effort, and patience required.

Re: Will Nick Saban be able to "weather" the expectation "storm" at Bama?
As the vast majority of posts on this board show, most of us strongly, strongly, support CNS and know he is the absolute best we can get. Sure, there are crazies already saying, "4 million a year for this", but everyone knows they're crazies. If CNS is so sensitive that he can't stand that, or some Finebaum barbs, then I am very surprised. So, I really don't understand why we are talking about us running him off. At this point, isn't that ironic? Moreover, where would he go? Let's get real and quit acting like the fat girl with a cute boyfriend --always afraid he'll leave us. We and he are bought into this process, and I think he knows that.

He's probably already faced more criticism here, than he faced his entire stay at LSU. That may, or may not, be fair, but is a reality.
Saban didn't hear much griping at LSU. In his first year, in spite of four losses (including one to UAB) the Tigers went to the Peach Bowl. Then, by his own admission LSU won the 2001 SECCG a year ahead of schedule in his 2nd year. Then in 2002, LSU lost in the last seconds to Arkansas which kept them out of the SECCG that year. Then in 2003 he led LSU all the way winning the SEC and the BCS. And since he left for Miami the next year at the end of the 2004 season, he didn't hear much griping if any, though that 2004 team had a one point loss at Auburn, a four TD loss at Georgia and a loss on the final play to Iowa in the Cap One Bowl.

I think we have seen from his first two teams that he has a championship attitude and surrounds himself with winners. He also has a championship vision that includes all of the Bama Nation.
