If you think about it, CNS went into the job at LSU with nowhere near the expectation level he's facing at Bama. Can he survive the constant whining of some of the fans? Can he handle the enormous pressure associated with this program? He's probably already faced more criticism here, than he faced his entire stay at LSU. That may, or may not, be fair, but is a reality.
More importantly, will he want to?

Just my opinion, but I think he will relish the opportunity to take Bama to a championship level again.
I'm sure he is aware of the unrest in the fan base, but he is probably more concerned with his disappointment right now than ours.
Re: Will Nick Saban be able to "weather" the expectation "storm" at Bama?
Coach Saban will be fine. I'd hate to be there in the spring, though. Anybody who actually watches the games can see where a lot of the problems are coming from and anybody with half a brain knows that four years of ineptitude and the creation of this current culture of losing cannot be overcome with one offseason and one season. Our guys are years behind other teams in terms of strength and conditioning. It takes more than one season to learn new defensive and offensive schemes. Perhaps I am foolishly optimistic, but I think most BAMA fans know this and know that even great coaches need time.

Sure he will, come on he knew when he took the job it was going to be difficult given our circumstances and the tradition we have at the capstone. Coach Saban will be fine, he's a big boy
Re: Will Nick Saban be able to "weather" the expectation "storm" at Bama?
I think so. From what I can tell, I don't think fan whining and high expectations bothers the man too much. So long as people stay out of his hair and let him do his job, I think he'll be just fine.
Re: Will Nick Saban be able to "weather" the expectation "storm" at Bama?
Man, he is really getting bashed on other sites, I've read posts ranging from will he be here next year to what are we paying him for. I don't always agree with the policies of this site, but I do enjoy the civility! ROLL TIDE
Re: Will Nick Saban be able to "weather" the expectation "storm" at Bama?
Count me among those who have man crushes on Saban if you like, but rather than becoming disillusioned with his "process", as some apparently are, the last couple of weeks just proves to me how long overdue it was. So much that I tried to minimize/rationalize over the last few years are now being thrown into sharp relief for me. I can only hope that CNS gives us his strongest medicine with no holds barred.
Re: Will Nick Saban be able to "weather" the expectation "storm" at Bama?
Saban knew what he was getting into when he came to Bama. He's been in the coaching business a long time, and he has witnessed how the Bama Nation has been as far as expectations since Coach Bryant retired. He has noticed that other coachs caught hell when they got here, so i think he'll weather the storm just fine. It's not like he didn't know this was coming.
Re: Will Nick Saban be able to "weather" the expectation "storm" at Bama?
This isn't directed at any poster in this thread and it's off topic but, I absolutely cannot believe we actually have fans questioning whether or not we're fortunate to have CNS as our coach! It has to be one of the most asinine things I've ever seen and frankly I'm saddened that we've actually had people here on TideFans bringing it up. If anyone is that concerned with instant gratification why don't you do everyone a favor and go ahead and start calling yourself a bandwagon fan, because that's all you are.
Sorry had to get that off my chest.

I'm sure CNS knew what was coming. I'm just not as sure that the rest of us knew.
