Mock 2009 Draft - Andre Smith

Share

Quote:
6. Oakland Raiders -- Andre Smith*, OT, Alabama
Smith stepped in immediately as the Tide's starting left tackle and continues to improve with more coaching and game experience. The Raiders could enlist a player with his kind of skills to take care of their most recent first-round investments in QB JaMarcus Russell and RB Darren McFadden.

It is a free insider preview. I figured that would be ok to quote.

Re: Mock 2009 Draft - Andre Smith

thanks, but I would think Andre would go to the Falcons or the Steelers, just because the Raiders will be a fast paced offense with JR and Dmac meaning you catch them two seconds after the snap or you don't catch them. with that said the Raiders probably won't look for an offensive lineman that is of his size. I would say most likely Andre would become a man of steel because the Steelers are looking to replace Faneca. But the Falcons might pick him up to help Matt Ryan. But who knows at least he'll most likely be drafted.

Most likely?

Wow...i remeber thinking that Michael Johnson might have been a sleeper a few years back, but haven't followed Ga Tech much lately.

Today is the first time I've heard his name since they signed him. Looks like he did well for himself.

I know he probably won't, but I hope he stays at Alabama for his senior year.

At least if he goes next year the much covered streak comes to an end.

There is expected to be a ton of juniors / RS sophomores declaring for the draft prematurely since there is word that there will be set "caps" on rookie contracts beginning in 2010.

I don't expect Big 'Dre to be with us after this year if he is a Top 10 lock.

That would be interesting about the caps b/c it is crazy the amount of money that unproven pro players are making. It seems like few teams try to break into the top 5 (maybe even top 10) now because of it.

Re: Mock 2009 Draft - Andre Smith

It is completely rediculous that some of these rookies come in making more guaranteed than pro bowlers.
