Tide’s trend is fast starts

Tide’s trend is fast starts

Football is a 60-minute game, but Alabama’s 5-0 start is due in large part to the opening minutes of every game.

The second-ranked Crimson Tide has been ruthlessly efficient in setting the tone.

Re: Tide’s trend is fast starts

Early penalties by the opposing team has played a huge part in our last two wins. They allowed us to score first and put the other teams on their heels. That's why the rules are there though...break them and you pay the price.

I agree, pentalities and turnovers are part of the game. No excuses. Play by the rules and you leave excuses to the side.

Big A Re: Tide’s trend is fast starts

I think the next "big test" for this team is when things don't go "as scripted" in the first quarter and they fall behind. How do they react? I think that will be the true test of what this team is made of and how far this program as come. We've got Kentucky, Ole Miss, LSU, Miss St & Auburn that I believe out of those games odds are pretty good that at some point we fall behind in one or more of those games. How we react will say a lot.

Re: Tide’s trend is fast starts

You stole the words right out of my mouth Buzzard.

I would like to add three things to it though:

(1) The youth of the team worries me because it may make them more susceptible to not performing well if we get behind.

(2) Look at the New England Patriot's defense this year versus last year. They played with a lead much of last year and other teams had very little success against them. This year, without Brady and the resulting lead, they look fairly pedestrian. Big difference playing from behind.

(3) JPW has performed pretty well (great last weekend!) so far, but he has shown the tendency to make mistakes in high pressure situations.

Please don't think this is my wish list by any means - just some concerns.

Re: Tide’s trend is fast starts

Fine by me if we don't have to find out at all this year of course that's may not happen.

Unfortunately we haven't had good success with coming from behind in the past, thankfully that is *behind* us .. oh I kill me.

It's bound to happen I suppose, but at the rate we are going which is moving forward by leaps and bounds I can't help but feel we're only getting better and will be able to handle this adversity.

I'd be just fine with finishing the season having NEVER trailed in a game...

Agree 100%. Look at USC and what happened to them when Oregon St took it to them. They seemed stunned and didn't know how to handle it. IMO if Bama gets tested like this in the next couple of games and passes then look out cause I think they will run the table barring any key injuries.
