Re: Sugar Bowl getting stuck with Utah, Hawaii, Cincinnati types
A Florida fan who's a coworker of mine and I were talking about the same thing. Either UA or UF would obliterate their Sugar bowl opponent if it's one of them (I've also seen Pittsburgh as a pick by some pundits). We both agreed it would be silly to pit them against either one of us.

I agree that it is a shame that these weak teams get into BCS Bowls. Last year people were saying Hawaii deserved a BCS Bowl game, Ga. proved that they did not belong on the field with the big boys. These teams need to EARN a BCS Bowl game and that is not done by going undefeated against very weak opponents week in and week out. I am afraid there are going to be some poor bowl games this year.

If Oregon St. wins out FoxSports was suggesting that USC would play the Loser of the SECCG. OSU wins out they go to the Rose. That would leave USC looking for an open bid to the BCS.

Why? Why does the Sugar get stuck with these type opponents? So if Bama were to lose one game, we get to play the Utes.
I'm sorry, but that would be like having no bowl at all.
Well, I understand you're saying, but c'mon, it's still the Sugar Bowl.. That's a huge bowl for us to be in, regardless of who we are playing. We don't have any control over that, so.. oh well.

No chance. USC would get picked up by the Fiesta, who chooses before the Sugar. And if they weren't, the Sugar still couldn't pick them, because at least one of the non-BCS teams will be a mandatory pick. The Sugar will be left with either the non-BCS team, whoever it is, or the Big East winner.

It's not just the Sugar Bowl getting screwed over...
Sure the Sugar Bowl got Hawai'i, but on the other hand the Fiesta Bowl got stuck with Boise State. And how happy do you think the Orange Bowl was with having Virginia Tech v. Kansas and Louisville v. Wake Forest?
I hate to say it, but the harsh truth of the matter is that the expansion of the BCS is going to result in some stinker match-ups like that.

That's the answer ^^^

Re: Sugar Bowl getting stuck with Utah, Hawaii, Cincinnati types
Just remember, just like the site of the Title game moves from city to city so does the picking order. The Suger like the other BCS bowls move up and down according to the year and the rotation of the Title game. Suger wont always get messed over. Now having said that, you also must remember that the Suger only has ONE locked team. The other is an at large bid. The Rose gets TWO locked teams. They are always going to have a BCS vs BCS match up. An at large non-BCS, will NEVER go to the Rose...

I don't think the Fiesta was really crying about getting Boise State in what turned out to be one of the most entertaining BCS games in history.
