Man.......I can't believe y'all can't see what's goin on!!! Tebow askin for his NFL projection, OBVIOUSLY, means that Meyer is headed for his dream job at Notre Dame. That means that Tubby is gonna head over to Fla and coach for his 3rd SEC team.
GEEEZ, it's freakin right there in front of your face..........
i think you are on the right track. we'll see what happens after their bowl game.
Interesting comparison, but I am not sure it translates well in NFL terms:
Disagree because Tebow brings the same kind of things that Jones had... the traits other prospects do not have. He obviously doesn't have the same skill set or measurables, but just as good of a case can be made for his leadership, toughness, and character. In addition, he brings something similar that every NFL team craves: a player that causes an opposing team to game plan for. In much the same way that opposing teams had to account for his abilities when Leak was the starter at UF, every opponent will have to make sure to add an extra amount of time game-planning just for Tebow's presence on the field.
Just like with the Jaguars, I believe a team or two falls in love with Tebow... and that probably means he will be picked earlier than when his ability alone would dictate him to be at. IMO, no worse than a second rounder and may surprise many to be selected about as high as Jones was to the Jags.
It amazes me to see how many people still discount Tebow's abilities and, for that matter, still classify Meyer's offense as a gimick. I don't expect Tebow to be the next Joe Namath or anything, but he will play on Sundays. As for when, I think he stays at UF for his senior year.
Well it depends on the projection. Conventional wisdom is that a lot of underclassmen will be tempted into a "now or never" bolt for the 2009 draft this year because of salary cap rule changes in the NFL beginning in 2010, driving down the sky-high levels of rookie comp. But the rule changes will have a disproportionate effect on the cream of the crop: first and (many) second round picks - the Jamarcus Russells of the world (6 years, $61 million), with progressively less severe impacts the farther down the draft order you go.
In other words, if Tebow (a) really wants to play another year at UF, and (b) he's projected as a mid- or late-round pick ... his comp PROBABLY would not be affected - too much - by waiting until after the 2009 season.

dont you think shula still has a man crush on timmy? and wouldnt it work out well for timmy to be the hometown hero at the jaguars?
Tim inquiring about projected draft situation? Can't hurt to ask, I guess.
Two reasons I don't think he'll leave early, neither concerned with his pro-ability.
1) He doesn't need the coin. He comes from a family that's not in poverty. Big money is the basis for a lot of early birds jumping.
2) Tim is having the time of his life at UF. Why should he give that up? He's today's equivalent of the original Golden Boy, Paul Hornung. Pro ball will be the end of that kind of adoration, for the most part.
JMO, 'course, but he might fool me.

Go to NFL, earn money, fund charitable interests. No having to deal with a letdown season in 2009 after winning the NC in 2008. No having to deal with Meyer leaving for ND. Or Mullen to Miss Tate. No having to deal with 2010 salary cap issues.
The only real "knock" I can see on Tebow is his release. It's a little bit long and odd looking, but not nearly as bad as many succesful QB's in the NFL, I don't think many see that as their biggest concern.
As far as being a good NFL QB, he's smart, he's a great leader, he's got a pretty good arm, and his passes are usually right on the money. Look no further than his last performance against us. He was throwing passes frozen ropes down the sidelines. I don't see any reason he wouldn't be successful in the NFL.
Good assessment. I think Tebow will be a starter at QB in the NFL.

Agreed with most, except I think he goes pro - especially if they win another NC this year. He'll have two rings and a Heisman. But who really knows. I am an admitted Tim Tebow fan, except when he plays Alabama.
Tebow is, by far, the best college player I've ever seen. Mainly, that's because his skills are so balanced between power, speed, field knowledge, passing power and accuracy. He beats you not one way but by making you unsure of HOW he's going to beat you.
In the NFL you have to specialize to be successful and when you start to isolate his skills none of the individual position skill sets rise to the top for Tebow. In otherwords, he's a great QB in college because you don't know if he's going to be an RB, a blocker with LB size or even a WR from play to play. In the NFL, he's going to be forced into one of those roles and having to compete with those around him that excel.
IMO, he'll get a 3rd-4th round look (and yes, I think the Jags are a good candidate) whether he comes out this year or next. I also think he'd be gone if he had won the Heisman this year. But since he was snubbed I think he comes back for one more run at NYC as well as a 3rd MNC. 2 Heismans, 3 trips to NYC as a finalist and 3 MNC's and you'd pretty much have to give him the title of best ever - regardless of whether or not he makes it in the NFL.
