If Alabama is not playing in the BCS title game who cares who wins, or who votes for whom after the game. Not that I care, but IMO I still believe Texas got hosed.
Because if the system isn't fixed, it's only a matter of time until it's Bama that gets hosed.

16 teams. Conference champs and a few at larges. Get rid of the bowls. Let them decide it on the field. It may not be perfect but it is better than a popularity poll.
Why at larges? Either everybody join a conference and every conference have a playoff or do away with all the conferences and every team plays how and what it can. The big dogs will win and the whiners will do what they are doing now - whine about being left out and not being invited.
Don't ya'll get tired of beating this horse? Until the School Presidents make up their minds to have a playoff - there isn't going to be one?
Darn just in there and enjoy the dadburned football game - our team lost out and so did all the others that aren't playing tonight.

The casual college football fan won't be shocked if Alabama is a ten-win type of team again simply because of the brand name, Alabama is supposed to be good,
No one is going to have a parade for an Alabama team that comes up short of a championship

You don't have to get rid of the bowls, make them part of the playoffs. And don't worry about conf. chanps and at large teams, take the top 16 teams and have a play off. Why try to complicate things!!! It really doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure it out.

How are you determining the top 16 teams? If you're using polls or computers you're using the same thing that you're complaining about now.

Are you kidding me? The gmac, new orleans, motor city bowls. You have got to get rid of them. What is so complicated? You win your conference, you are in the field. If we have 16 conferences, we will have no at large's but we won't have 16 so the at large's will be the hard part. Sure somebody will feel they are left out and it is not a perfect system but it beats a bunch of bias sportswriters and coaches voting in a poll. That has really gotten old!
But how are you going to determine WHO is in a playoff. If there are ANY at-large teams, it will be just as subjective as the current setup.
Correct. But I'd rather have to subjectively decide who is left out by being the #9 team than by who is the #3 team.
Currently #8 is Penn St. #9 is Boise. I would not feel so terrible about Boise being the first team out of a playoff. Ask Texas, USC, Utah and, dare I say, Bama, how they feel about being left out.
8 teams would be better than 2.

A popularity contest? Since the current process includes computer polls, I'd say it has a dose of objectivity and is not totally a popularity contest. In addition (regarding the human polls), you might find that the subjective opinions of a pool of people might, as a collective, approach an objective result.
Regarding the "total fraud" that has apparently existed over the years, I don't see anyone lobbying for Bama to renounce its 12 national championships because they weren't apparently won "on the [playoff] field" and are not legitimate as a result.
