As the Everyday Should Be Saturday blog reported, ESPN has announced its fall college football lineup. Mike Patrick has been booted from the Saturday primetime game, replaced by Brad Nessler. Seems like an upgrade to me.
I'm really disappointed to see that Ron Franklin is still calling random Saturday afternoon games that I'll never see. That guy was the voice of Saturday night football; I've no clue why ESPN won't return him to that slot.
Agreed about Franklin...Growing up, I loved hearing Gottfried calling a game. I've gotten a chance to meet Mike a few times, seems like a great guy. I know he does a lot of work with underprivelaged kids in Mobile. I like Nessler as well, hell at this point I would go for anybody callin a game..just gimme some football!
I always liked franklin a lot but if you notice, lately his voice and coherence have suffered greatly. I hope it's just age not something else. I always thought he gave bama a fair shake. RTR
RF is a fine gentleman, and I miss him on the air. He is as nice in person, also (even if he did use to date my wife). I guess his "non-PC" remark just truncated his career. My wife was a little irritated to hear that he'd gone from being a year older than she to one year younger...

GREAT!!!!another season of Lou telling us that the 0-7 Flightin' Orish will the Nadional Shamship deam. At least Mark May will still be there reminding him which is the hole in the ground.

LOL.... You hit the nail on the head there. Sounds just like granny.
Andre Ware will provide analysis on the new ESPN Regional Television Saturday SEC over-the-air syndication package -- also the result of ESPN’s agreement with the conference -- with commentator Dave Neal, a long-time voice of the SEC, and reporter Cara Capuano. Coverage will begin at noon with Rob Stone and Matt Stinchcomb in the studio.
Ohhh Noooo!!! It's the return of the Daves.

If CBS and ABC would only do the same to their bumbling idiots, watching college football would become so much better.

Craig James, who will continue as an analyst on ESPN’s Thursday night series, Mike Patrick, the voice of many top events on ESPN for 27 years, and reporter Heather Cox will form a new team for Saturday telecasts on ABC.
Im glad Dave Neal is getting over to do the SEC for ESPN I think he does a pretty good job. The Dave that does color, not so good. But there was just something about hearing Dave Neal's voice at about noon, eastern of course, that just sounds like the kickoff for a day of football. Plus, he has worked hard over the years for JP, LF, and Raycom, as well as SECTV. He has earned it.
Just keep Pam Ward far-far-far away from the SEC please.
