This presupposes that the NCAA is even considering this issue.

Jones and Ingram certainly should have cleared the trip with the athletic department before going;
why? if the story, as it is presented, is true, then why?

Anderson: hey y'all wanna go fishin'?

Julio: Let me call the University first......

is it different because it was in the ocean? What if they were at Guntersville lake? Okay to go fishing then? Is it because it was on Anderson's charter boat? Is the supposition then that he is never allowed to use it for pleasure? Can't use it just to take people out?

I'm still having trouble with all this.

When the NCAA rules will they release it to the media, or does the university have that option? If the latter, any chance coach already knows and is just keeping VT in the dark on what it is?

You and me both. I have to wonder, how the ncaa was able to rule so quickly on the situation with the Tennessee freshman RB (Bryce Brown, I think)?

The whole thing is ridiculous to the extreme.

I wasn't aware the ncaa needed to rule on this matter. The university and the SEC filed a report with them as a courtesy was my understanding. Did I miss the point again????

No matter how minor it might be, we are in no position to even risk playing ineligible players, which is why we're having to wait to hear from the NCAA.

UA needs to know something, either way, prior to Saturday.

I bet we hear something tomorrow or Thursday.

At this point, I'm cynical enough to believe the NCAA would intentionally withhold it's judgment until after game time.

Re: Article: NCAA Still Hasn't Found Time To Rule On Ingram & Jones

so if you haven't heard anything by Saturday, do you risk using two "ineligible" players if the NCAA comes around on Sunday and says "well, we were thinking you should have held them out a game. Since you didn't, they were ineligible and that's an infraction."

Color me even more cynical: I think the NCAA has already ruled and that the administration will announce the content of the ruling at about 7:45 EDT Saturday night.

If the NCAA hasn't ruled by game time, you've got to sit them.

I'm with you on this one. Force UA to make the call, then potshot later. Withhold the players and Bama loses, NCAA says we coulda'/shoulda' played 'em. Let the players play and Bama wins, NCAA says they were ineligible.
