WOW!! Talk about catching tough breaks. And this is bad for all parties. Had he come out in the draft last season, Gresham was EASILY the best TE in the country and would've been the first TE taken, not Pettigrew. This reminds me of Florida TE Cornelius Ingram who missed all of last season. I hope the best for Gresham because I think the world of him as a player.
Similar to my thoughts on Gresham, had Bradford come out last season, he would've been the first QB taken, not Sanchez. So this is not only a bad break for the two best offensive players on the Sooners' team, but it's obviously a HUGE blow to Oklahoma. Wish them the best going forward.

Matthew Stafford was the first QB taken. The Lions took him.
Its unfortunate Gresham got hurt, but hindsight is always 20/20 with these things. They did have a shot at a national title, and I commend them for coming back. More kids should do this. I'm sure both Bradford and Gresham will still make the big bucks at the next level.

It might be the worst turn of fortune for a team after the first week of the year I've ever seen. It also doesn't do much for the notion that a highly rated player is doing a good thing by staying for his senior year. Something that I'd like to see more of BTW. Both these players haven't done much for their draft stock by returning this year.

I hate that for him as he would have no doubt been the best TE in the nation...given the QB he had. Can he get this year back to return next year or do you think he could train for the draft and hope for the best?

Wow! The Sooners have lost 2 players in the first game of their season that should be playing on Sundays this year...
Gresham was hurt in practice leading up to the game. Regardless, injuries are part of the game, and hindsight is always 20/20. These guys came back to win a championship, and continue to write their legacy. I think that's something that's missing from college football. I wish it would happen more often. Its unfortunate both are injured, but they'll still have their chance in the NFL.

YES...of course he was. I follow NFL closer than I follow college FB. I was so upset about Gresham being out for the season that it skipped me. But I think Bradford would've been taken before Stafford! Either way..
And you're right, hindsight IS 20/20, but I'm a degreed engineer. Had someone offered to pay me 6 figures to leave college a year early, guess what? I'm GONE!

Huge loss for the Sooners. They just better hope Bradford is ready for the Texas game otherwise their season is likely over.

I understand that on one level, but college is just a four year experience they can never get back. They both have the talent to still make millions in the NFL, and the rest of their lives to expand beyond that. I just think it does the colllege game a great service for them to return. Bradford would be making 8 figures. Gresham would probably be doing the same or at least 7 figures. I know what you mean though.
I agree that some college players should stay for their senior season (Julio Jones and Mark Ingram are both fine examples ), but money talks and when I'm offered 7 or 8 figures for doing something I love I am gone.

Hate to see anyone injured, Gresham is a heck of a player. We will just have to wait and see what happens.
