Nope, they turned away the only one they had committed (who committed prior to Kiffin's hiring), apparently because Kiffin didn't feel he was a good fit for his offense. I'd be willing to bet he's since regretted that decision.

They tried for both of the Sims boys. In fact, they're still trying. Right now, early PT is all they've got to sell.

In regards to Nick Stephens, someone on Nashville sports radio claims that he is known as "Picnic" (Pick Nick) in practice because he throws so many INTs.

In regards to recruiting, Kiffin caused Tajh Boyd to withdraw his commitment and go elsewhere, and UT ended up without a QB.

They had a pretty good commitment, but Kiffin told him he wasn't a good fit.

In addition, most observers say that BJ Coleman played significantly better than Crompton in spring drills; when Kiffin named Crompton the starter, Coleman transferred to UTC--we'll see him in November.

Many UT fans have speculated that Kiffin was trying to make sure that he can assure 5-star QB recruits that they will get the starting job as a freshman. He hasn't gotten many nibbles.

There is a lot of dissent on the UT boards with a few getting restless with Kiffin, so already the doubt in his abilities is showing with their fanbase.
And I'd have to agree with those that do.
Ultimately the blame for UTees problems lies with the HC. Kiffin looked exactly like what he is, inexperienced and over his head during the UT/Barn game. BAMA fans should recognize the looks on the sideline. We've been there. Utee is going to have quite a few more of these type games with the on-the-job training for their HC. They can blame it all on the qb/Crompton issue, poor wr's, or a lack of overall talent, but you'll never convince me they have less talent than AU does. They just got out-coached and out-played and wasn't prepared for the game. AU was.

Is Kiffin the QBs Coach as well as the OC? I thought he was supposed to be an "offensive guru" where his dad is a "defensive guru." If so, he's certainly not showing much ability to develop a QB or offensive talent yet. I think it is obvious that McElwain has improved our QB play. I think Shula did a good job in developing the QB talent. You would think that if Kiffin really were any good you would see some improvement with their QB situation. The better high school QB prospects might start coming to that realization as well.
