Re: Laugh generator straight from a UT fan board...

Living in Tenn is a joy right now. There is dissention in the ranks for sure. One level headed fan I work with is very upset at Kiffin and also the art of tackling that daddy is teaching or in his words "not teaching".

There is also rumor of a lot of bickering/griping/complaining/finger pointing amoungst the staff and players. It was told on Memphis 56 that Brandon Warren has been suspended for the year. They weren't for sure, but that was the word they were getting.

It just keeps getting better!

I've been told privately that the practices are disorganized, even Dubosian (staff gets to post this kind of material - ), and I'm not terribly surprised. I think he's going to turn out to be an interim stepping stone coach, much as CMS was...

I could see that happening...

A little off-topic here, but I didn't want to start a thread just about UT. But I wonder what other posters and our UT faithful that post here think about UT's prospects for the year. Most were saying that a winning season would be an improvement over last year. Now sitting at 2-3, they will need to win 4 out of the remaining 7 to have a shot at a bowl game. UT's upcoming schedule is as follows:

10/10 Georgia
10/17 Bye
10/24 at Alabama
10/31 South Carolina
11/7 Memphis
11/14 at Ole Miss
11/21 Vanderbilt
11/28 at Kentucky

With the possible exceptions of Memphis and Vandy, I don't see any gimmees on there. In a normal year, UT should win against Memphis, Vandy and Kentucky. That means that they have to win one of Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina or Ole Miss to finish 6-6 and try for a bowl bid.

With rumours of infighting among players, especially the offense, this team could be poised for a tailspin. A serious blowout or a loss to an unexpected team could provoke that. Of course the expected wins are all in November. So what do you think, will Kiffin have a losing season his first year?
Maybe they won't lose on 10/17 but you never know!

If they get beat by Memphis, they better run him out on a rail, pronto.

Memphis is beyond horrible. If Memphis beats Tennessee, the radiant heat emanating from the fan anger-generated explosion in Neyland might be enough to make Oak Ridge achieve critical...

Regarding the UT backup...how soon we forget. Stephens played the entire game against us last year, went 16 for 28 for 137 yards and one TD, no picks.

Right now, I would say 5-7 or 6-6.

Memphis is a program with a lame-duck coach and plays as such. If they were to beat a program that has been infused with 'energy' from a new, young coach who's done "certain things" on purpose to 'energize' the program, it will be a huge indictment on the coaching abilities of the UT staff.

That said, I see no way possible for UT to lose to Memphis. The only gimmee left on the schedule. They should be underdogs the rest of the way with the exception of KY and Vandy, which may well be pick'ems.

Re: Laugh generator straight from a UT fan board...

One of my professors at UA got his undergrad and Ph.D from UT...great prof, great sense of humor. Some of us were giving him a hard time about the game last night in class, and he said that on some of Crompton's passes that actually hit the WRs hands, the WRs were shocked and surprised that the ball was there.

He said he's always had a bad feeling about Kiffin, and really will not expect more than two more wins for this season. He'll probably root for Alabama for the rest of the season.

All those egos starting to collide, especially when things aren't going well. You had to know that was the risk with the "All-Star" Assistant Coaching staff, No Star Head Coach.

That was exactly what I heard - sort of like the Dubose regime, when all the assistants were running around talking on their cells during practice...
