I've been holding off on saying anything, but I watched the Bama/Ole Miss game, and a Bama defensive player pulled his helmet off after a play, no flag, so it's not just Fla getting by with that one.

You might have also noticed that he immediately pulled it back down. I don't even know if it made it all the way off his head.
Re: Tebow with helmet off while still on field picture
Thanks 37bamagrl, those were the pictures I was looking for. My son ( a huge Fla fan....I know I didn't raise him right....at least he isn't an aub) swears up and down that I was just imagining Tebow on the field w/o his helmet. Now I have proof.

Re: Tebow with helmet off while still on field picture
In neither one of those pictures was he a player on the field during game time, in both the SECCG and after UF scored the final TD v Okla, Tim paced the sidelines and exhorted the defense or ST or the crowd, but they were during TV timeouts with the clock stopped...
It is certainly not a penalty to have your helmet off when you aren't even one of the 11 players in the game, nor is it a penalty to cheer your team from the sidelines or exhort the crowd to get loud...
I think I see some Tebow-envy on here, and it aint pretty...
Now I can remember several times where Tebow has gotten a first down and come off the ground all fired up and either head butted his OL or waved his arm at the crowd to get loud, but those were all last year and maybe flags should have been thrown then but they weren't...he hasn't done it this year, I think he knows the refs were trying to crack down on it so maybe he stopped...
Re: Tebow with helmet off while still on field picture
You can see him in the first minute of the video below with his helmet off in both the games v Bama and FSU, but in both instances they are after UF scored and Tebow is on the sideline, he may be acting obnoxiously or drawing attention to himself in your mind, but they aren't penalties.
Re: Tebow with helmet off while still on field picture
I admit that I haven't seen every Tebow game, but in the ones I have watched, I never saw him rip off his helmet while he was a player on the field. Now, he is a very emotional guy but I don't see him as trying to draw attention to himself.
I think it all just boils down that SEC officials are terrible and grossly inconsistant but Tebow has enough of a star quality to make himself immune to their completely random excessive celebration calls.
The has had it's problems with excessive celebration in the past as well, but they seem to have a pretty good handle on it now. The conferences and/or the NCAA really just need to improve their rule on excessive celebration.
