i may be wrong but i believe it was still florence state college when your dad played.
That is what his post says???? Not sure what you are trying to correct but he stated that "at was then Florence State University" in his post...........
I think Buster Brown will be picked up by a major college, whose program will take off like a rocket for a couple of years then crash like a SCUD missile (no one knows where).

I don't think Bowden leaves UNA unless it's for a major D1 school. He wouldn't leave for a Memphis or an Akron or anywhere like that. It would have to be a BCS school, and I just don't see a BCS school offering him a contract unless he is highly successful over a 4-5 year period. I may be wrong on this, but history has proven that just because you're last name is Bowden doesn't mean you're a great coach.
He's also a lot more involved in the local community that I recall any UNA coach being. He's on billboards, radio-shows, he's been to plenty of speaking engagements, etc... Nothing like the last few head coaches. He's given a lot to the community. It's almost like he's trying to put down roots here.
Now I'm not saying he wont leave. If he does leave, I could see it being for West Virginia, even though they're not looking for a new coach. Bill Stewart's not the guy most of their fans wanted, and even at 6-1 his seat isn't exactly cold. After Devine leaves, look for a 6-6 or a 5-7 record and Stewart to be out the door. But I don't think Bowden came back to UNA just to use it as a springboard to another job, he could have done that at any time over the past 11 years and he didn't.

Actually, it was Florence State Teachers College from 1929 to 1957. If I'm not mistaken, Sip's dad played with the great Harlon Hill (1949-1953).

He made it known publicly only for the last few years (at least, that's all I'm aware of) that he was looking to get back in to coaching, and UNA was a perfect fit; good program, situated geographically to be able to take advantage of scholly casualties from SEC schools. No BCS school would touch him, so that was his best opportunity, and IMO he definitely took the UNA job with an eye to the future.
If he doesn't go to a BCS school it will only be because a job is not offered. I can picture, possibly, a few BCS jobs he wouldn't take, sure...but not that many.

After Tater Tot was hired, he did an interview (maybe the local Boomo Bugg show?) where he all but admitted that UNA was his only hope for getting back into college, but he hoped that success here would open up opportunities at Division 1. I think he goes to any Div 1 school where he thinks it's possible to win some games, and I think he'll jump at the first offer. He basically said that he feels like he has many, many years of coaching left in him, but I got the impression that he was shocked to be shut out of the profession like he was after taking so much time off.
I also wouldn't classify Bowden's actions as "putting down roots." He knows how to work the scene, and I think it's stroking his ego to be the big fish in a little pond. I wouldn't say that it's impossible for Bowden to stay here, but I think he's in a drag race mindset at UNA, not a marathon.
We've been to see the Lions play twice this year. They are certainly something special. I agree with the earlier post. It would be amazing for UNA and Bama to win NC's this year!!
Ahh now I see it...that is awfully nitt-picky there man.
It's nitpicky of me to point out a difference raised by others that you couldn't see and that you sarcasticly asked what the differnce was? Now that's nitpicky.
