Re: Football lost a good one (my Dad passed)

I'm very sorry to hear about your loss. Not many people can say they had a father that loved them as much as yours did, so cherish that.

You and your family are in my good thoughts and prayers. Roll Tide!

Re: Football lost a good one (my Dad passed)

Very sorry to hear that. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. God bless.

I don't watch the pro teams as much, but da Bears are on the teams I've always pulled for. My family moved from Chicago right before I was born, so I was almost a yank myself.

On October 31st, 2009 the Lord and Coach Bryant called my father to their side. He had a blood clot in his lungs that burst and caused cardiac arrest.
I have told the story numerous times on this site but it bears telling again: I grew up in Chicago and my Father has forgotten more football than I will ever know. He was a perfect 28-0 as a head football coach. He was the biggest Bears fan I have ever met. 1986 (Super Bowl Shuffle) was one of the happiest times of his life.
My fondest memory growing up was sitting in front of the TV watching Alabama play eating roast beef and swiss sandwiches on rye bread and drinking ice cold cokes out of the glass 16oz bottles. Dad loved the way Coach Bryant's teams played football and he had tremendous respect for Coach. Much like he did for Coach Lombardi.
Thanks for being my "internet" family all of these years and know I am at peace with my Father's passing as he is with the Lord our Savior and will be cheering on his Son's alma mater and his beloved Bears from up above this weekend.
Roll Tide and Bear down Chicago Bears!
My condolence to you and your family. May he (RIP).

Re: Football lost a good one (my Dad passed)

So sorry to hear this Bilbo. Mine died suddenly in 1974 when I was 15. Every single game I've watched since then leads me to a "Dad, I remember...thanks!" moment. You'll never stop missing him, but it creates a bit less suction as time goes by. Press on, and Roll Tide, bro! Praying here.

Re: Football lost a good one (my Dad passed)

There is something special between father and son, like mothers and daughters, I guess. It's hard to give them up, even when they're miserable. There's not day that passes that I don't think of mine.

Blessed be those memory he leaves behind with you...

Needless to say, prayers for healing of the pain for you and your family.
