There is nothing I hate more than when fans whom don't get to play one down blame the officials on a loss, much less claim every week that the officials are cheating!!
After 10 weeks of college football a couple things are pretty evident.
#1 The SEC is getting way more exposure this year with their new TV deal than any college conference ever has. What this means is that every game played is watched by Thousands and Thousands of fans where in the past we all had to listen to many games over the radio because there was no TV coverage. Now we are actually getting to see every play from every game and fans are able to identify bad calls and game changing screwups that in the past were not evident when listening to a radio. Not to mention that other schools across the country get to see these same games and chime in with their comments. Honestly, I am not sure the officiating has declined as much as I believe we are able to place them under the microscope every week.
#2 This goes hand in hand with #1. But advances in technology have given us all wall sized TV's, HD quality video, multiple camera angles, HD slow motion not to mention the internet videos, news and boards that we have readily available to us 24 hours a day.
#3 I will agree 100% that the officiating in the SEC is very inconsistent. Celebration Penalties... Phantom Whistles... Missed Holding Calls... No consistency with Pass Interference calls...Game changing calls...Blind Instant Replay officials... take your pick, all of these have happened in almost every SEC game this year. How much of this is new and how much has always existed, but we were not able to see with our own eyes??
#4 Is there a SEC conspiracy to make sure
UA and UF are undefeated and play each other in the SEC. Absolutely not. Come on, do fans honestly think that many people could not only keep a secret but be bought?? You are talking about officials that have graduated from all 12 SEC schools selling out their own program for a few $$ and risk Federal jail time. Yes there have been games bought in the past, college, pro, football, baseball, basketball, you name it. But to suggest that the SEC commish and 100+ officials are all in on the take is not just a reach but absurd.
SEC Fans want to have it both ways.. Sorry you can't say the SEC is fixed in one breath but then turn around in the next breath and say your team is going to win a game that the SEC has already "fixed". Over the last couple weeks we keep hearing from many SEC fans and other fans across the country that the SEC refs made sure
UA and UF remain undefeated. If this is the case then why have there been horrible calls in the
AU/LSU game,
AU/KENT game, UGA/LSU game, UGA/ARK game, TENN/SC game, MISS ST/LSU game, etc? These games mean nothing if the SEC is worried about a
UA/FL undefeated fix, why would they fix these games? Maybe the fact that Bama and UF are undefeated at this point is because they have been the better teams in each of their match ups period. If you remember they were the best two teams in the SEC last year, so I would not say that it is too far fetched to expect them to be at the top again this year.
So which is it?? Do you think
UA vs UF is a "Fix" or is it a match up of the two best SEC teams? Could it be that the officiating is finally getting exposed now that they are being watched every game by millions while Bama and FL kept winning because they have been the better team each week. I don't mind one bit that a rival fan picks his team to beat BAMA... Heck, if he didn't expect his team to win I would not think too much of him as a rival fan. You better believe that every rival football player will believe they can win each time they walk on the field no matter whom they are playing. If they didn't think like that, I doubt they would be playing D1 football very long. Incredible plays, heart breaking defeats and bad calls will remain as long as humans are apart of the process, fortunately for all of us the human factor is what makes college football great. It would be pretty boring sitting around playing the games on paper!!!
We all have our opinions but if you believe these are not the two best teams in the SEC, then the officials will always be there for your lame excuses. BAMA vs UF is not only a reality of the best two teams in the SEC but the best two teams in the country!! The NC game will be played in ATL this year not the Rose Bowl!
